Deceided to dust off my 39 Monark 5-Bar and take some pictures. I painted it and
also restored the seat several years ago. My bike looks like the one in the ad except
I added the rear springer. The bike is very unique as both fenders move back and
forth with the springer action
Read the info on fender rollers —which got me to think about selling the one that I built about 30 years ago. Before I had the chance to put it on Facebook—word got out and it was sold.
What did this go on ? About the last item that I put on my finished 39 Western Flyer was this kickstand. Those extended parts stuck out stopping the crank from rotating. Weird-huh ?
Just finished this Monark 5-bar super frame dual springer. This project has come a long way from
what I started with. I was able to save the graphics on the tank revealing the original color of the
bike. I realize that some of the accessories are not correct-- but that's me. I'd like to...
This Monark is going to be my summer project/paint. It's pretty complete except for changing
the sprocket to a speed chain. Not sure if this is a 38 or 39. I have both a "I" and "J" Morrow
rear ends. The serial no. is C72377--so hopefully someone can set me straight on the year.
This is a...
I'll be bringing a large tub load of nos balloon tire fenders. All sizes front and back. The kicker is
that the price is $1.00 each. These are all post war. I've just got to get my inventory down to a
manageable size. Tom
I put this bike together --apparently with no knowledge of what it was or what it was suppost
to look like. The tank looks like Rollfast but I was told the serial no. was Hawthorne. Does anyone
have any lit on this bike which has the "big nut' seat stay and the front fork lock ? The rack...
Here are a few more of my collection. As you can tell, some of them need some more work. I have
only a small selection of originals as I am a collector that enjoys the "hunt"----finding the down-tread
bikes that need help.
I was asked if I had any more bicycles in my collection. Here is a variation of them as I like
all types as long as they have large tires. A lot of my other bikes (not shown) need a lot of
TLC and parts.
I tried to put a thank you out there especially to CWCMAN for helping on the Roadmaster on the
previous thread but kept screwing up (what's new). I decided to throw in another project that
will be attempted after the 37 is done. It's a Monark 5-bar Superframe dual springer.
I'm trying to finish up 37 Roadmaster Supreme before going to paint. I started restoring/building
this bike several years ago and need to "geterdone". The problem is the front fender.
Question: Does the fender mount directly to the fork with screws or does it use a fender
with a recessed...
I picked this up not knowing what it was. This bike doesn't fold--but comes apart in the middle.
Note the large knob in the middle. I did a quick o.d. "housepaint job on it and added a "GENERAL" head tag.
It's got 16" tires and rides great for an adult bike.
I just completed the 41 Colson this...
I purchased a 1941 Colson Clipper several years ago not realizing that the
springer was made up of both 1941 and 1950 parts. I know now that there
are at least 4 parts that are different from these 2 years. What I need is a
couple of good closeups of a 1941 front end, mainly to see the...
Here are a pair of 1942's that are a little skimpy on the chrome and have
the half racks due to the war effort. The Elgin has some decent paint and
the "ELGIN" on the head tube is painted on. The Hawthorne also has
some decent paint and a 2-speed. The Wards Riverside w-walls on it are...
I dug out some front forks just for the fun of it. I use the Huffman
ones for reference when restoring. I have very few original bikes
so I need all the help I can get. The one picture shows a fork in
reverse--which I'm guessing is a reject that got thru. The other
picture shows some of...
I purchased a bike at a local car parts meet that seemed to be a sleeper.
It was Huffman/Dayton with the wrong fenders, chain guard, seat, handle-
bars, front fork (monark), and mis-matched wheels. Now everything on
this bike was painted a dull black, even the badge. People were passing...
