This project followed me home from my brothers house. He got it as a project several years ago and hasn’t done anything with it… So I inquired about it and brought it home. Plans to just make it a nice solid family cruiser. Its missing an engine and transmission, so it’ll get a nice cheap Chevy...
Lots of guys take these springers and put them in a Lil’ Tiger to make a little Krate. Thats why they are usually higher priced than the ones without the springer….
Thread bump. Dug my frame out and have started gathering parts again. I think I’m going to just throw it together and make it ride. Then work on cosmetics after.
Howdy folks! Looking for a prewar stand for my cycle truck. It doesn’t need to be very pretty, just has to work. I can make one, but would prefer an original. It’s the last major piece of the puzzle to make the bike fuction like it’s supposed to!
Thanks, Jon
Hopped outside after work to snap a few pics of this one for another thread, but my two year old followed me out and wanted to “go bikey”. Yes sweetheart…. We rode around the neighborhood a little bit. My wife’s bike and it’s waaaaay too small for me. Lol
Way cool! Only the second one I’ve ever seen.
This one is my wife’s 1934.
How I picked it up.
How it’s currently modified. Lots of parts not original, so I’ll let the experts comment on that. Fenders are Shelby placeholders till I find correct ones. Fork is original, although I had to...
Here’s one I built years ago… Would love to find it again… Sold at the Hoosier Classic Swap in Lebanon, IN back in 2017 or 18. 1928 if I remember right Electric badge Schwinn. 700c’s and Sturmey S2C kickback hub. Badly needed a new fork or some major repairs…
Wandered up to the attic to dig out the next project. Have been slowly gathering parts for this one for a couple years now since I first picked it up. Have also been gathering motivation to work on it…. The painstakingly long task of removing the black paint to reveal what’s left of the original...
I thought about that. But they aren’t exactly as common it seems as they once were. Maybe I just haven’t looked for awhile! Lol! The Tokheim is honestly a really cool and great riding piece. The Hagen I’m still waiting to get installed. There was a couple pieces missing that I’m having made and...
I like this mentality. I plan on getting rid of most of my junk. Keeping the ones I’ve built that I love to ride and a couple of projects that I really want to build. Then really watch what else gets purchased in the future.
I’ve got the first bike my dad and I built when I was 12. Custom chopper built from a fair lady frame. I can barely ride it now. But can’t get rid of it. But I don’t want it anymore lol. I’d love to find a neighborhood kid kid to give it to. It’s the first bike that started the hobby for me, 20...
That is so precious! I’ve got my 7 year old daughter on a mini stingray right now that’s dressed out as a cruiser. I’ve got her next one in the wings. A 1948 DX boys bike, she’s requested violet as the color, since there is no original paint to be saved! Yes dear!
Dang! I didn’t make it down there this year… one of those elusive frames for me that I just can’t decide if I want/need. But so different for a Schwinn that it’s intriguing.
Thank you! Is this something I should consider restoring if I can’t get any original finish back? Not new to the bicycle world, but I’ve never played with a tricycle. Any idea as to the value of it?
I’ll admit tricycles aren’t my thing. But this rain gutter fender caught my eye. Would love to know what it is. Fix it up and it’ll be for my soon to be 2 year old girl!
Little bit of weekend tune up on my 1924 Schwinn built Hawthorne Deluxe. Rear wheel had gone a little out of true and was rubbing the fender brace in one spot on a 25 mile ride yesterday… got that sorted. But while on the stand I decided to wipe the 1 year worth of dust off it since I first...
Thanks! I don’t normally like fake patina, but there was nothing left to save of the original paint. I like bikes to be ridden and thrown in the back of a truck for enjoyment. A combination of scuff pads, sandpaper, a rusty chain used as a hammer and rubbing the parts in the gravel driveway...
Just finished this Miami built custom for a friend. He wanted an 8 speed cruiser with a drum brake. Alrighty then. He left the rest to my own design. NOS fenders I picked up. Fork was beyond repair so I sourced a swap meet special and made it fit. He wanted wide bars. My wife designed and made...
The sprocket in this picture was actually brazed to the crank. Don’t ask me why. I broke it loose. Was able to save the crank and make it fit the Premier sprocket.
She did a fine job too! We worked together to design this one. She used her iPad and her Cricut printer to cut the vinyl out. It’s all layered and hand laid. I penciled the outline on some masking tape, she took it from there. Truss bridge to pay homage to the frame design, railroad’s because...
