I was just gifted these 1971 Collegiate Schwinns. They have the wrong gear changer and derailers, (put the thumb click ones on in 1991) and other than that I think are original.
With original owners manuals and 1971 catalog.
Awesome gift from a great elderly man!
ITS ALIVE!
Meet Frankenstein, my monster rat.
Frank is resurrected from parts piles and the Spring Swap near my little area of the world.
The ride is very nice. The LED converted tractor fender light sets it off nicely.
The headbadge will be my rendering of Borris Karloff's Frankenstein.
Thanks...

Rat On!
This started out as a stripped down middle weight, I added 24" springer with me-made extensions. Swapped bars seat wired up my wood carved rat for a rear light and tried my hand at some pin striping. Since photo I have added a converted tractor light...
Late 1920s? Rollfast before.
After
1939 Roadmaster before
After, still have fenders and rack, just left them off for now.
1948 Shelby Eagle before.After, my wife's bike.
Another amazing and beautiful restoration Howard!
I really like the color combo, top shelf as always!
I wish my "still having fun" turned out as nice as yours!
Doug
So as a guy showing up with some cash in pocket, what goodies is everyone going to be bringing this year. The past several have always had fantastic goodies, just curious what to look forward to this year!
I have a blue one just like it. It was my Mom's when she was little and we used ot with my daughters. Pretty neat that it can transform into a walker by removing the foot pan and handle.
One person on the CABE that I am always impressed by his projects, be it original cleaned or full restoration, is Howard.
This time he is doing one that is near and dear to me. I cannot wait to see this gorgeous bike when completed.
Keep up the very fine work!
What a cool bike and a great experience for her. This is my wife's Shelby I recently did for her. Looked very similar to yours last October.
Keep up the good work!
Very nice job. They are great riding bikes! I opted to leave the rust, and I have straightened the front fork since.
I am looking forward to seeing your bike completed.
Well the paint on the fenders, and chain guard were too far gone for my wife to enjoy so it was pretty much a restore. I think its okay for my first try at a restoration. Lots I learned and much more to go. I still very much prefer the gentle clean and ride em warts and all, but if Mama isn't...
There are things more precious than money. I got my 1939 Roadmaster yard art from a lady that said "absolutely not for sale". She was right. I talked to her husband found out she loves nature and raccoons. Carved one in a knothole and traded for it. She even threw in her yard art girls Schwinn...
I think the bike found it's way to the right guy! What an excellent score!!
Hey if they need someone to take out the trash give them my number, please!!
Back in the early 70's we were camping in Kentucky. My buddies and I were fishing. When we came back to the campsites all our muscle bikes were gone.
We were freaking out when suddenly we heard war hooping coming from down the road. All our dads were on our bikes peddling with their knees...
Amazing ingenuity or enginuity in this case!
So hit-miss bicycle? I have a friend who has been thinking about a hit-miss trike butt buggy for tractor shows...
