    66 Fastback project

NO. only about 20 or so are 66's. I am trying to collect one of each color from each year 66-76. I'm very close. The picture is only about half of them. Have 14 violet 66's. I have way too many duplicates.

I Agree. Never sell a Fastback no matter how many times you run out of room.

    Seriously damaged frame or what.

Gotta kinda wonder if that was a "prototype" overload tube that used epoxy and electrical tape.

Can you date this Sears serial number?

For sure an interesting bike. I bet someone will eventually read this and know what is going on. This is the kind of bike i like. I am still looking for a Jan.66 Fastback with the old school serial number. Good luck.

    Seriously damaged frame or what.

Really. And the rest of the bike is not right either. And ask a fortune for it. Makes you wonder how straight it is to. I needed a good laugh today.

Can you date this Sears serial number?

Does everyone agree it's a Sears Murry built? Free Spirit helps narrow the date. Crank and ring have been replaced. But. The fork crown looks differant than what is pictured in the catalogs and the internet. The stays are angle cut at the down tube which is differant than the catalog pics. One...

Can you date this Sears serial number?

I've looked through all the years and ya that chainring and crank aside it's that fork crown that gets me.

Can you date this Sears serial number?

Bikes are usually just past half way through the catalog. Page 300+ or so. A royal pain flipping pages 10 at a time but a good source of info.

Straightening a bent front strut on a Krate...anyone else been there?

I agree. And with Buickmike to. I have straightened a few of these and about a hundred sissybars. I made my mandrels out of UHMW and use a hand arbor. The key is to trap it to keep it round and very very lite pressure. To much force and they bend the other way quick.

Schwinn Silver Mist Manta Ray clarification!!!

Exactly. The catalog says - available in green yellow and orange - they just didn't say and any leftover silver mist frames. By the catalog 74 fastbacks are orange and yellow. I have a yellow, orange, red and blue one. Not a popular bike by 74 (damn thumb shifters) so frames with 74 numbers are...
