Yes I would leave it in place. Definitely an upgrade to the factory frames as not to bend the frame under the braking force.

It was actually an upgraded option you could buy when these bikes were new. The one on my bike is actually an original. They are currently making reproductions for a lot less than the original. I have both but I prefer the original one and that’s what I mounted in the bike.

No I live just outside of Buffalo, NY closer to Niagara Falls.

No it actually doesn’t but the original owner of the bike had bought it and put a whizzer engine on it when new. Everything clears very well.

Alright so I finally got going again. I have the engine and everything mounted I still need to setup the clutch and fix the gas tank but I just threw it all on to see how it’s gonna look so here’s my progress so far. I left the bike pretty much original paint just fixed a few issues in the paint...

Wow nice turn out. It’s a shame Fred White is no longer with us he helped so much in my build and I kinda lost inspiration after his passing but i keep telling myself i need to get going again. Hopefully soon. Nice pics though!

This is very shocking as I hadn't heard from him in awhile . He was a great man and I'm sad he'll never be able to find out when I get my bike running with the carb he did for me. I learned a lot from him and I hope he'll be able to see me complete my bike. My condolences to his family .

It is an ml5b and I did get it to start today only to find out the carb is cracked too and leaks gas everywhere. Fred White has helped me a lot and he is going to help me get a new carb.

It's been a year today that I've been working on my whizzer. Yesterday I finished the engine but when we tried to start it there is something wrong with the carb. We have great spark and compression but there is too much gas. So time to tear into the car but just a few things left on the bike...

I believe they used this style mounting brackets on early h model engines before switching.

Hi, Just throwing out some info if you didn't already know this. In the picture as you stated that is the top motor mount then next to that the bottom mount. The bracket below the top mount is the clutch cable bracket but then you also have an (f model style or) early h front bar motor mount...

Yeah, I'm not positive but Im pretty sure the springs mounted to a bracket which in return mounted to the rear studs.

To me it appears to be from a Martin roadrunner chassis or some other motorcycle but the Martin roadrunner's had large mesinger seats with those mounting brackets.

I've seen it done many times, some look nicer than others though.

Nice Ray! I have to get in contact with you soon it's been awhile. I like these bikes too, I just worked on a 70's jawa that is a neat little bike. Have to post some pics. The whizzer is coming along though!

Using an original clutch would probably be best but they are hard to find. I think Quenton Guenther in North Carolina may have made some retrofitted new clutches for the old engines.

It should have the large breather then and will hold 8 oz of oil. As mason man said it's a 48 loop frame pacemaker.

Very nice bike! No oil is not mixed in the gas since it is a 4-stroke. It appears it is an j engine and would have the tall breather making it capable of holding 8oz. Of oil but if it has the short breather it will hold 6oz. I actually own a pal seat for my bike which I am restoring right now...

Finished the carb! Also got the cylinder head sandblasted! Finally found he thumb controls too...

Slow progress but have the carb completely rebuilt, except waiting for a new float since the original was barley still intact. Will upload some pics tomorrow but I am still working on it!

The frame isn't dimpled but the fender was cut to make the belt clearance.

Alright it must be a 45 then. The chain guard and fenders are original but as the story goes the fork was added after the installation of the whizzer kit.

The rear rack was also the wrong one for the bike. And I do have the original embossed chainguard for it that was on the bike but I had already taken it off so it wasn't on in the pic.

I'm not a hundred percent sure if it's CWC but was told it was. I don't have a picture of just the bike as it is away in paint but here is one with the engine and kit attached. This was when I first got it and realized the top engine mount was backwards. Here's a pic of the serial number too.
