Does anyone know what is the right Excelsior badge for a 1935 double diamond Excelsior? I have one but I'm doubting it's the correct version. Thanks in advance for your help.
Hi John,
I'm just trying to have a prewar style/look. Whether it's the same type of paint or the same darts etc. that were originally on this model is irrelevant to me. I don't have many of the OG parts to put on the bike. This will be a klunker or BMX cruiser type build. I'm more...
Probably end up doing it myself, but I’m wondering where is a good place to turn to to have a prewar Schwinn repainted? Just want to give it a prewar look with modern two-stage paint.
If this is the wrong spot for this I apologize.
Thanks in advance.
Sorry Dirtvelo I just saw this. When I got this frame the chain stays were gashed from loose cranks so that was mended. Also, the built on seat post clamp was dropped, gussets were added to the seat stays, like the Austin Cruiser, the frame was straightened and rear brake bosses were added.
I probably won't get this done until after Christmas, but I'm close to building this modified '35 Schwinn. The build will feature campy tipo hubs, ukai speedlines and a tang bi plane fork, but I might use the other one I have and not the one in the photo.
Sorry, not a great picture, but here's 12-year-old me with my DG behind me in the early 80s. When I got it the bike had stamped Ashtabula cranks and fork. However, I also rode this bike to school. One day while it was chained inside the bike cage, someone stole every part that didn't have a...
Here are a couple I'm working on that are being built up with BMX parts. Both are prewar Schwinn double diamond frames. One has OG paint, the other had some cracks in the stays when I bought the frame. I had it mended, straightened, added gussets like the Cook Bros. Austin Cruiser and brake...
No thank you. I would consider partial cash and trades. Things I'm looking for are double braced 9/16 rat trap pedals, 9/16 bear trap peadals, like the newer MKS XC III, cromo MX-style handlebars etc.
Rat trap
MX-style handlebars
Bear trap
I'm not an expert like some of you guys. I have what I think is a '36 Schwinn C Model. I'm thinking about letting this go to help me with another project. I can't even remember what I have in this thing. I also have the truss rods. Am I allowed to ask what this thing is worth?
Thanks in...
I have no idea about the finish. As I said, it's been in a parts bin for years. I received it this way. This thing is as old as I am. I don't know what all finishes were offered on these.
Hi Drosentreter, If it was painted, it wasn't painted by me. I've had it in one of my parts bins for about four years and just never had a plan to use it on a build. Whatever the finish is, it appears to be pretty durable.
Thanks
Painted and in nice shape. No gashes or nicks and includes hardware. Appears to be stamped '76.
Will come down in price a bit for double braced HTI or Victor rat trap 9/16 pedals.
No, I had a NOS set at a bike shop that was doing a build for me. We decided that for the spacing of the rear end, the 1.75 were just too thin and used different tires. In the mean time, they "lost" the tires. I've got far more than $100 in them. I can barely find a set with splitting walls...
If you had a set of NOS Carlisle 26x1.75 tires with no cracking and virtually no drying, what would they be worth? What would it cost, assuming you could find such a set, to replace them?
Thanks in advance.
I'm considering trading or a partial trade for my NOS, still in a box COVID Cruiser. I like old school stuff, cro-mo, prewar and OG paint. Wondering what's out there that people would be willing to trade/offer to get this 26" loop tail cro-mo cruiser. Everything seen in the photos is NOS and...
It was a sweet ride that I stupidly traded to finish some other builds. Had a prewar shifter and just quality stuff all the way around, including TNT cranks.
Here's some I own/owned and some that are in line to be built.
'49 Panther
26" NOS COVID Cruiser that I'm thinking about selling/trading. Message me if interested.

Prewar Schwinn that has some issues, including two cracks in the rear triangle.
I might send this off to...
