info needed on thread on cogs . im running a morrow hub with a 1/2" pitch cog, are there differences in thread pitch and size between new departure and morrow cogs ? i have been looking for morrow cogs and cant find any .the only ones i come across are 1" pitch . i have a few ND cogs but they...
the truss will clear a 2.10 but the new bike is running 2.8s and they wont fit . your LBS can order a suspension corrected 26" fork that will correct the tire prob.
this bike is a 62 panther3 and is on 27.5x2.10s rides great with no frame mods for wheel/tire clearance. i did replace the 20.6 seatpost with a 27.2 thou. the fork is from a late model repop its tubing not solid and hasnt folded.....yet.
good ol harbor freight . 50 bux if you mix up the coupons right . i havent checked on the service plan with them but for a few bux more you get a good extended warranty . this one is a couple of years old and is still rockin.
here is a 1985 rear derailleur in all its original filth 20 mins in the ultrasonic with simple green dilluted to bout 50% and it is as clean as its ever going to get
well i figured this is the place for my new klunker bike .i need to shorten the fork about 1 1/2 inches and modify/replace the chain stays for tire clearance , i might as well shorten up the wheelbase a bit while cutting and welding on her . im starting this weekend so i will post pics of the...
Evapo rust has saved my ass . i was a bit skeptical at first but a 24 hour soak and these parts went from expensive junk to usable items . 9 bucks at harbor freight well spent . i have used navel jelly in the past with decent results but it is stinky and nasty. this by far is a better way to go...
brake cleaner in a welding shop will get you a tongue lashing and possibly a black eye . i hate that chemical crap and you wont have it in my workshop .
ultrasonic cleaner from harbor freight , its cheap china poop but it works . mix up simple green 50/50 and parts are silly clean . it actually pulls dirt and grime out of the pores of aluminum bits . 30 mins in the buzz box and a rinse thats it .
thanks so much for the info ! now i have another rabbit hole of frame styles to explore . so i think i have a frame choice narrowed down a 41 dx, wider frame and curved downtube . but dammit all i like the straight centertube .
so pre war dx frames verses c model frames .... the only difference i see in pictures is that the c model has a longer seat tube above the top tube . the head tube might be different also but i havent looked in person yet . what am i missing . are they different gauges of tubing or geometry ...
im searching for morrow parts all are going to be riders so new parts arent really needed but will be considered . dirty greasy or a lil bit rusted is fine . thanks , leigh
