Nice bike! This one won't be "restored" under my watch, I did consider cleaning it up a bit but even that is in question. The tires stay for sure, they tell an amazing story with the stitched up patch work. A local shoe repair shop was able to glue a previous seat of mine to at least give it...
Looking for any info we can find on this early Mead bicycle. I know just enough to be dangerous with this era and I have the opportunity to buy this locally. I told him I'd see if you all could come up with a year and ballpark value and we'll go from there. It seems this era is all over the...
Again, appreciate the help. Just trying to wrap my head around someone relacing hubs on a bike like this back in the day, etc. Thought it would be more likely that some kid swapped wheels with his sister's bike or something. Thanks again!
Yep, like I said, it's all kind of confusing. The guy I bought it from was a scrapper, picked this bike up while cleaning up a farm near Clarinda, Iowa. He knew it shouldn't be scrapped but it is as he found it according to him. Everything has the same amount of grime/crustiness and the rear...
Man I've been reading through your posts trying to gain some knowledge, thanks for posting what you do. As for the LH side, well I cheated and it's still dirty lol (busted😆). Another thing that is confusing me is the rear hub and an S2 in front and rear? Ran out and got you some shots before...
It confuses me slightly as it's kind of an odd thing to swap out on such a clean bike. I wouldn't be so confused if it had a bmx seat, different bars etc when it was found but I guess they just wanted something different.
Wasn't even looking but thanks to the Facebook algorithms which I usually hate, this thing showed up 35 minutes from my front door😍. The paint is in great shape with some slight fading on the top tube, lettering looks great! The chainring will need swapped out, grips aren't original, but damn...
I told him that I don't believe that I am interested as after some research, it appears to be a reproduction and apologized for wasting his time. He responded today with this info.[emoji848][emoji1787]

Thanks for the info! Funny thing is that when I Googled kids high wheel bikes etc, many come up like this, some claiming to be real so that's where my gullibility comes into play[emoji849]. Repop antiques of any kind that sit outside for 10 years can be tough to distinguish to the rookie eye...
I'm not real knowledgeable on these but this one has me scratching my head. Yard art or the real deal? Don't have any info and this is the only pic. Probably obvious to an expert but I'm gullible [emoji16]. Thoughts?

I have a set of wheels bought and on the way but I am interested in the drop stand. Can you quote me shipping to 64423? Are the grips you have correct for teens/early 20's?

Still looking for red rain gutter rear fender with white stripe down the middle, rough is fine, pedals, drop stand, seat post and grips, let me know what you've got!

Well crap, guess they are 28" then. The wheels are so jacked, threw a quick tape measure on them and then assumed from there [emoji849]. I'll check out your ad, thanks for the info.

Looking for parts to put this bike back together in working order. I'm doing this for a friend, his father bought the bike new and it means a lot to them. Looking for the 26" wooden wheels, hubs, tires, rear fender (maroon with white stripe), seat post, pedals, and drop stand/clip, grips. Let me...
Looking for a maroon Firestone Super Cruiser tank for this bike. I know it's a long shot but thought I'd throw it out there. I need all of the other missing parts as well, chain guard, seat, etc. but the tank is the first thing I'm after. Let me know what you've got. Thanks!

Looking for one 28" York single tube for my Elgin and also a front axle nut for the new departure front wheel. (5/16 fine thread but specific to that axle). Let me know if you have one of either to spare, thanks!

I am in need of the jam/lock nuts for a rear Morrow Hub from a 1935 Shelby. While I'm asking, I'm in need of one axle nut for the front of the Elgin Motobike as well. Let me know if you have these that you could part with. Also in need of a York 28" single tube for the Elgin if anybody knows...
Appreciate your help, that would explain the spacing issue that I'm having. You don't have a picture of the correct one, do you? I may be missing it but I don't see one in the hub breakdown above.
Really? Hmm, well that might be a problem too. Been a bit of an experiment since I'm no expert and I had it shipped in pieces. I'm typically fine if I'm the one that took it apart but getting a box of parts, that's a different story.

Nevermind, turns out I'm a moron after all [emoji44]. Chain would turn and then would bind against the frame, didn't feel like that is what was happening. Put a washer between the frame and hub and it's now functioning. Tried to delete the post but couldn't figure that out either...
Picked this late 20's early 30's Elgin up a few weeks ago, it arrived completely broken down as expected. I got it put back together recently and quickly realized I have an issue with the rear hub. It's a New Departure Model C that just won't move freely. Now, I am a newbie to these old bikes...
