Here is how badly I want one. This was a freebie on the curb a couple years ago.

I found this 1947 Chief about 20 years ago, but the family wasn't ready to part with it yet. Finally got the call this week that the time had come to sell it. Just the way I like to find them. Original, unmolested and not passed around the hobby. This original paint machine has less than 12K...
I'd say $600-$1000 range, but that's just a guess. Your bike and Lookn4bikes' examples have a rear jack and different back fender than mine. Also, note the curved rear carrier braces on Lookn4bikes' bike.
Mark, I remember you from my many years in Peoria where we both worked for Caterpillar. I wish you the best and hope that you find peace and comfort. God bless.
Drove to Indiana to follow up on some old leads. Got a nice original 1964 (D4) Stingray from the original owner. Still has the hang tag/price tag and sales receipt from Krick Hardware in Milan, Indiana. That one will go up on my wall. Also found a Mini Twinn to toss into the swap meet pile.
I agree with comments regarding the bike likely being earlier. 'Ive had at least 10 of the prewar girls Elgins over the years and the chain guard and string skirt guard like this one has are typically found on earlier bikes. If I get the receipt, it may end up being earlier. And, even if is...
I picked this up from the original owner's nephew. It was purchased new in 1939. He has the original receipt but is still trying to locate it after his recent move. I cannot find any information regarding a model like this. Lights are not embossed with any name, but appear to be early Delta...
Not a barn find. Just well cared for and properly stored. I replaced the tires and a broken lens. No cleaning or detailing was done as it just didn't need it.
Zephyr badged 1939 Huffman and a prewar Schwinn Liberty Frankenbike assembled back in the 40's, Fenders on the Schwinn look to be nice original chromed Dayton Huffman colonial style.
Whether it's real or not, I'd love to read some of the PM's folks sent, with all the grovelling and sweet talking. 'We're but caretakers of these amazing pieces of history. I'm the right person to give it a good home and treat your family's heirloom with the diginity it deserves. Blah, blah...
Funny how the warnings and suspensions work. If you're in 'the club', you can break the back door rule as was done on the April 24th posting for the prewar Schwinn. That even elicited cries of foul from some of the other members of 'the club'. Funny how there were not only no warnings or...
There were a couple nice ones posted just this week by members here. One is probably less than a 2 hour drive from you and the other seller offers to ship.

I found this 1955 Black Phantom and dragged it home yesterday. More evidence that the non-locking early style fork was used on some of the 1955 Phantoms. This bike was sold new at Park Bike Shop in Evergreen Park, IL. It appears to have been ridden very little and was properly stored. I have...
Darn. I was out and about today picking up a couple Phantoms I found. One was in Laporte, so I went right past Portage. Woulda liked to check out that B6 while I was in the neighborhood.
I watched this one and elected not to bid. Looks like a good buy for $850. Listed as a '57 but has a a serial number of S32029, which I believe is correct for 1955. Did someone here grab it?

Darn the luck. I was in Mentone about a week ago. I don't know the members name, but there's a Cabe member in Warsaw. That's only 20-25 miles from Akron. Where's the good old member locator tool when you need it.
