Hoping to get it painted sometime soon. Looks like 3 color choices from the Dayton catalog. (Thanks @New Mexico Brant)Can’t decide between carmine or the iridescent green. Heck even the black sounds good. Don’t know if I have the skill set to paint it correctly but will see. Sure rides nice in...
Thanks! I love this. Here’s a slightly better pic. Will post better ones as soon as I can get outside. I wanted to ride this as soon as I could so I just slapped a coat of glossy primer( all I had at the time) and put wheels on it.
Picked up this morrow hub recently with an F-1 date code...
Yeah that was something. I still have mine and have had frame straightened. Keep meaning to post pics but have been so busy. @Krakatoa did the work through his repair service. Amazing transformation.
Just a few pics of the extensive work that his shop did to repair this...
Against my better judgement, I purchased a bike off of Facebook and sent the seller $$. Short story is - after a few back and forth texts about shipping etc., the seller has gone dark on me. I have a phone #, email, and know the area where he lives. He also has a business there as well. Anyone...
Thanks Shawn. That makes sense to me now with the company switching back to regular bike production sometime in 1945. I wonder what month of that year they actually began building regular bikes again with the war still going on deep into that year. Anyways, appreciate the input. J
Came across this and am trying to verify year. Fork stamp is a 9 5. Don’t have many pics. Am I correct to assume that it is November of 35 or 45? 45 would have been a war year Huffman so .....? Any info would be great
I have this 36 Dayton that was battered and pretty much toast ( at least that’s what I thought).
I sent it off to Nate and let him work some magic on it.
Left out all of the details but this is what it’s like now. Back on the road and rolls like a dream. Amazing work and am so happy...
Thanks Adrian! I really appreciate the time and detail that you put into researching these kind of things. You are a valuable asset to this hobby and we all benefit from your hard work.
Going off some info from another site and looking at the serial - it could be postwar (1947?). Just guessing cuz I don’t have a lot of experience with this. Is there a badge? Am interested but am curious to see what someone who knows has to say about it. J
I can’t tell. If you had pics of the rear fender mounts that might help with the ID but someone with more experience would have to weigh in. I’m just a rookie:grinning:
Just curious as to what makes you think it’s a 43? I was under impression that Huffman only produced bikes for the military during that time. The serial number would also have a date stamp below it. I don’t know enough about them to make an accurate ID without the date stamp. J
It seems like every product has its reviews which claim that it performs well as well as the reviews that state that it is pure crap. I have a hard time trusting any online review. I won’t be drilling umpteen jillion holes through stainless steel, but I would like to have something that performs...
I’m tired of using crappy drill bits that can’t do the job. Am willing to spend a little more for quality but don’t really know jack about bits. Went down the rabbit hole on amazon and was blown away by the cost of high end bits. Am a big proponent of US made tools and would really like to find...
