Hi everyone I have been trying to locate a headlight for my 1951 Roadmaster Deluxe which I believe was one of the last off the line with the curved fender stays, but with this style headlight. It is the same one used on the Roadmaster luxury liner. I included a pic of the lights I am looking for...
the women's bike in this guys thread looks like the right blue, and maybe the right paint scheme? https://thecabe.com/forum/threads/cleveland-welding-bicycles-and-the-new-guy.5276/
A little update I removed the front wheel to unscrew the delta headlight. Upon inspection it actually has the same blue paint inside the fender as the paint in the serial number, so I think the fenders are original to the bike, and it came in some dark blue night mist color. (metallic dark blue)...
so you don't think tear drop style like in the ad? (on page 1 top pic). The picture you posted With the flyer chain guard. would that chain guard be correct as well as the sprocket?
I think your right about that rear fender. It seems like the guy I talked to may have been right if a majority of them came with the rack, then the fenders are probably correct for this bike. Maybe one of the last bikes to roll out with them. So looking at pics for the light, seems like I would...
Well fender mounting holes line up perfect. I did find some OG bikes. I contacted the owner of a couple, and he said the rear rack was optional. He said if the fender has 2 sets of stays on it, then it was likely ordered without a rack. (see pic) He also said it was likely the fenders were just...
Well that is good to know. I wasn't sure how many vendors of the ridged fenders with the curved arches there could be ? or how many manufactures may have been supplied by the same fender company. So it seems like the consensus is the fenders are ok but the chain guard, and skip tooth sprocket...
Hey another question for the gurus out there. Seller didn't included a kick stand (said it was ordered), what type of kick stand should I be looking for? Also need a horn, and like to find an original light, so I can remove the delta. Any input is appreciated. (I know there is classifieds, any...
Hard to say has like 3 spray jobs on it, but once I used some lacquer thiner you could see the original paint. I was thinking of trying to take some thinner to a discreet part of one of the fenders and see if the same paint is found.
Well would it also be possible that advertising money was dropped, because bicycles sales were dropping as well? I would guess, perhaps CWC was in financial trouble, so they were putting bikes together with what they had on hand, (depleting old stock) and this made it easy for AMF to swoop in...
Thank you for your post.
So the fenders may indeed still be correct. Sorry, what are scuff bars? same as truss rods?
Also what is that big blue thing in the ad?
sorry I am not familiar with scuff bars?
Also I did find a 1940? Fleetwing, that looks similar to my bike. It has the same front suspension as mine but has a rear rack instead of the 2 brace fender support.
https://thecabe.com/forum/threads/1940-fleet-wing-controversy.43477/
Ok these are the peaked fenders on this bike. What about the fender struts with the arches are those also prewar and post war?
Also the skip tooth crank. Haven't seen that particular design yet. Was this design used for a particular model or year?
thanks
thank you for the feedback. I just wonder about those fenders, and how much stock there was laying around when assembling bikes. What year is considered the last year they were used 1943 or 44? plus the arch on the fenders matches the frame. Was there a separate vendor who made the fenders ?
Hi guys I just picked up what appears to be a late Roadmaster, (prior to AMF). I am curious what was the last year for Roadmaster, Hiawatha, or fleetwing, to run the ridge fenders, with the arched fender struts. Here is the bike I purchased (it has been repainted) . Missing a horn, has a delta...
I looked all over the bike. right side up, upside down, seat post area, under the cranks. I do not think the bike has a stamp. Has the the front roll fast badge though. I am still stuck on it being a 49, based on the silver original paint on the frame and the parts remaining.
I just looked. There is no number that I can see anywhere on the frame. I took a wire brush to the bottom bracket, nothing seen. I am young and have good eyes. I went over the whole frame and do not see any stamped numbers. I flipped the bike upside-down, nothing. I took off the tank just to...
I think my bike is just after that design. my front forks at the bottom are more squared off. I am guessing my bike is a 49? Where do I look for the stamped year?
Well this is what I saw a couple of months ago:
The eBay seller wouldn't take 130 for it, after posting twice with a reserve. Finally posted it with no reserve sold for 130. I looked it up too late. I was kinda pissed he was holding out for more money, and then took less. Anyways I am trying to...
Here is what I am rolling now. Purchased just as you see it. I found a correct pedal, and have just sourced the correct spring and cap for the front springer. I think it is a 49, but have not looked for a stamping yet. That chain guard on it is not really secure. I thought the (non reflector)...
wow, only 250, that more than I paid for my whole bike...lol
I guess the ones with the reflectors fetch a little (a lot) more.
Last couple of non-reflector ones I have seen went for 65--80.
Thanks for letting me know on this one, any others out there?
Well maybe your right. I assumed mine had the truss rods, but maybe it didn't come with them. I have found some similar bikes to mine with both, but I think my bike may be a 49, roll fast deluxe, and only the springer would be correct.
I am interested in your truss rod set up. how do I know if it will fit my roll fast bike? you mention 1941-1947 Rollfast, I am guessing mine is a 1949?
let me know your thoughts. thanks
