There have been a few "420" production bikes produced in recent years!

YEP, all I could do is laugh at your post because of the lack of any description or question about your rusted out frame!
So what was the actual point of your post?????
According to the catalogs, they used .105ga spokes on all HD's from 65 onward. And to the best of my knowledge, your single speed twin would have had the same wheel set as the HD with the .105ga spokes
I believe you misread my post. Your bike has .80ga spokes. There is no way to step down to that size spoke on a rim that was drilled for the .120ga HD spokes!
It is either missing the original wheel set, or the chain guard was swapped out at some point in time? .80ga spokes would not work on a rim that was drilled for .120ga spokes!
These bikes with the MR serial numbers were discussed extensively in a prior message thread. And it seemed quite odd that there were so many MR serial numbered bikes made, when the Schwinn workers were on strike from Sept. of 80 through Feb of 81.
I have a King Sting with an MR serial number...
The serial number is irrelevant. Once again, the head badge date code is the actual day and year it was assembled at the factory making it an 82 model.........!
It is an MR serial number, and the first 3 numbers are not well represented. I would assume it is because of the chrome filling in the numbers? It has a mid year 81 head badge build code on the head badge. I doubt it is the original badge, because if it was sold as a frame only, it would NOT...
So what is everyone's thoughts on this "Rare Limited Edition" King Sting?

I went to my Schwinn service school in that building back in 1980.
I also remember unloading boxcars full of bikes with some of the other local dealers.
Good times for sure...........
Here is a perfect candidate for a fake California Cruiser. It has an Oct. 76 serial number and a 77 head badge, so just change the head badge, and screen on the guard...........!

BTW, wasn't there a tread posted in the not so distant past that had a picture showing all the different colors of Schwinn Tanks available back in the day?
I am not sure I would have paid that for a tank in that condition????? And I didn't see where it was being sold as NOS?

I am seriously thinking of building this one up? But I want to do it with all NOS old school period correct parts that I am sure may be a bit hard to source out? I did find a parts list with part numbers for the parts that were available for the bike during that era. Does anyone have these parts...
That rare single speed KLUNKER is for sale again on FB if anyone is interested........................????

Yea, it will take some time to source all the period correct parts! But it would also be cool to build it with some current new parts because of the quality of new technology. New school meets old school...................
So I have been researching the acquisition of the NOS parts to build this up, and it looks like it is going to be a costly endeavor to build this frame up with all NOS period correct parts........! So I think I may setup a GoFundMe page to get the necessary funds to start the project.............LOL
Yes, it is a very nice F&F set. And I am seriously thinking of building this one up? But I want to do it with all NOS old school period correct parts that I am sure may be a bit hard to source out? I did find a parts list with part numbers for the parts that were available for the bike during...
Here are some more pics of the frame showing the differences between my other frame and this one. The serial number, fork stamping, made in Japan sticker, and decals are different between the two.
