In 1914/15 Consolidated was making all it's tubing, Hussey bars & stems, handlebars, crank-sets, and many other forged parts in their own factory. After 1915, during WW1, they stopped the production of all cycles, but continued to make tubing and "Drop Forgings" for other companies, perhaps up...
Old bike category gravel races like this I have always wanted to go and participate in. Soon hopefully. A 25 & 50mi old catagory should be in every organized event. Thanks for posting the bikes.
Well....I was pretty bummed, so changed my mind completely and moved on. Then two very well respected collectors/traders reached out and changed it again, helping to track it down, twist some arms and secure it. If it stayed on the DOND forum, but most likely I would have paid much less had it...
I have an original "N486xxx", 36/7 banana tank with a round top fork Slick. I have heard you claim they did not exist until 39 a few other times here but zipped my lip knowing my 36 had one. If you would like to see a picture of my round top 36 fork I can send it to you. Or, maybe you have...
Your bike seems to be many different parts and badges together on a Colson 28-er frame.
https://thecabe.com/forum/threads/flared-fender-motobike-help-needed-schwinn-snyder.202152/page-3
Not sure the head badge was original to the frame as it had aluminum rivets holding it to the frame. It may have been removed then replaced at one point losing the screws? It fits the hole spacing perfectly and also ghosts to the black paint that remains on the head tube. Looks brand new on the...
Here is a rarity. A teens, 20" Arch~Bar frame with what seem to be the original fork, headset, crankset, cups, cones & fenders. Advertising examples of a closed bar Arch Bar frame design don't yet exist. This frame is the same as redlines' discussed from page 18 on, except for one thing. This...
Here is my 36 Moto by Snyder w/slip collar seat post clamp. Nice blue paint and agree...33
It seems also these depression era Snyders i've run across have the thin lower fender bridge cocked at an angle...like yours.
^^ That is one butt-ugly bike, nobody would steal it. 🤣 Today I got out for an hour or so around town on the 36 Hawthorne. Grey and cool day before the next system rolls in. All is well en las montanas at 7000 feet.
Thanks for posting another great example. Really nice bike & also like the changes you made. Post war for sure and it provides us all more information. Excellent images, welcome to the Cabe!
So how do you fix it? There are no suggestions that might fix the problems that occur so perhaps simply call it what it is. The Fishing Expedition thread with no rules. Dog eat dog. Rules be damned. How very civilized, I am out.
Fair enough, and you can't demand fairness right? You can force it though. Rules are rules and some of the comments above are very telling, rife with willful ignorance. It seems there are two sets of rules for those apologists. I really did not "need" that frame but something was fishy going...
I just had a bad experience with a DOND auction for a frame and fork with fenders. You know who you are. It was badged but the maker was not "identified", but simply his guess it was a "30's frame". I had an idea "who" the maker was, but the seller did not know as he did not mention the maker...
I can't get these lyrics out of my head. Life is short. Put away your electronic devices and look up. As a wise Lakota Sioux leader has said, "The Truth of Life comes into this world with two faces, one is laughing and one is crying, but it is the same face, smiling or weeping". Best wishes...
Late 20's Emblem-built with Pierce drops. Oversized tubing, over-sized everything. Should be back on the road this summer..very close now. "Flatted" chain and seat stays on the inside, all 4. Have seen only three but all have been different in some way..
These front chain "rings" really are something. The variety of design, spec, pitch, offset, thickness and the most mysterious, the Maker is not well understood. Over the years reading through the threads, it seems to be open ended as to who manufactured them and who sourced them. It's noted in...
Pedaled around the hood today on my 36 townie Hawthorne for about an hour and a half. Beautiful weather, 55 degrees f at 7000' elev. The Redwing Blackbirds are back already, Sandhill Cranes also. Been touring and riding the lifts the last three days, crowds are down. Cruised it nice n' easy...
@steve bennett I am not the one to ask about the "04" stamp on the Badge or what it means, or about post-war bikes. I will say that these "P" frames, made I believe prewar have all kinds of different and inconsistent stuff hung on them. These frames from the early through mid/later 40's...
There is one serious wheel "hop" on that boys Schwinn. Is that typical Schwinn quality control? Would make for a pretty bumpy ride. Well-oiled machine with the now rounded seat bolt nut. Good riders don't show off...love it! I've always wondered about what the reason is we can only use one...
Very upset to check in and hear about this. Ian was someone who I knew I would enjoy straight off the bat if I had the chance to meet and ride with him, which I never had the chance to do. Thanks to those posting photos of him and his rides so as to remember, so sad he's gone. I had never met...
Mark. That was the crank you needed for your Emblem bike that works only with Emblem and Miami chainrings.....(if you still have it) 2nd dibs on it...pete
Yes, sometimes but it depends. That specific chainring has been tied to and seen hanging on "VIM"-badged, Snyder-built bikes outfitted with their typical DPHarris hardware....(ring) This is an early ring, Teens, 20's? Others will comment..
Others with more knowledge regarding post-war Shelby's should chime in, but we have to start with an image of the serial number and an image of the bottom of the Chain Stay. Those two consistent (mostly) things pretty much will tell us a whole helluva lot, especially whether it is a Shelby-built...
An old friend of mine and many others in the skiing community, Dave M., was killed in an avalanche a few days ago in Montana powder skiing out of a yurt. We who travel a fair amount in the backcountry talk about death a lot, it is only one mistake away. In this business, you cannot make...
I may know the answer to this one straight away. AS may know as well. Perhaps older than you think and cooler than you may realize. Photo credit @dmk441 perhaps still in his hands....

Good job digging. I see you have looked at the Shelby Serial number thread realizing you have a P900K number frame missing most of the parts except maybe for the Fork. You also read about the missing 900k numbers I spoke to in the Shelby thread. Now we have your frame/fork as an example...
Some brave soul could start an MC Excelsior Serial Number thread.....some here may not like that but I could sure support it.
I have heard MC Excelsior never pinched seat stays...among other makers. MCE!
Ran across this one today from a 2017 id thread, then unidentified. Odd frame eh? "R" Serial is spot-on Shelby, 1938 frame, still pinching seat stays even this late.
