I am looking for a Morrow rear hub. The letters and numbers are lightly stamped.
So, I can not read everything. The bike is a mid 20s Hawthorne. Looking for a complete hub.
What's available ? Dale
Original belt guards are stamped from one piece of sheet metal.
It would have been very expensive to fabricate the belt guard from multiple pieces of metal as this one is.
Its a nice looking piece.
If your flywheel was slipping the engine would not run, the ignition timing would be off.
The flywheel could be rattling against the key if their was damage on the crank and or the flywheel from being run loose in the past.
The inside of the flywheel should always be checked for damage around...
So, I believe at the time this was built, that this would have had a flex exhaust.
The engine may have a serial number starting with a 3 but it is an H series engine.
The engine would have had a different exhaust manifold. The carb is not original, use what you can find.
The compression...
No, The cylinder does not come off the crankcase. Completely different engine. For the engine to live, it needs to use a chrome plated piston, just as Briggs and Stratton did in the cool bore engines.
Looks like a aluminum pulley. I don't see anything Whizzer about it. Unless you are saying it is one of the buzz bombs pulley that they call a whizzer want-a-be.
Hopefully you haven't started to reassemble the engine yet.
What I see, is the cylinder stud have been replaced, they are not sticking out from the crankcase the proper length.
The studs should be sticking up through the cylinder flange, base gasket, a washer and the nut with a minimum of one...

Just use a good quality 2 cycle. oil.
Low ash 2cyl oils did not exist when these where built. Regular engine oils where used.
That is why 2 cycle engines would wear so bad and make such a mess running.
The front rim is a dimpled rim, I call it the football dimple. It is different than the round dimple.
These where used with the large nipples and spokes.
I believe it made for a stronger mounting for the nipple besides stiffening of the rim.
This also allowed the head of the nipple to be...
Hi, Just throwing this out there.
I am looking for any of the early 1997 engines, parts that may be out there. They may have been available in 1996 too, I don't know.
My understanding is, most of them seized, because of the cylinder not having a cylinder liner. These were the early attempt at...
Hi,
Can anyone date this bicycle within five years of when it would have been made?
I will have to get pictures of the frame later on. It is wood rimed,
