    Help with Hawthorne

OK thanks. I will have to take a harder look over the weekend, I was looking for a longer number. Maybe just did not see it even after wiping the crud away. That bike got put on the back burner. Just happened to be moving things around today. I have a lot of projects, slowly working on one at a...

    Help with Hawthorne

Still see nothing on the bottom bracket but serial number on seat tube reads 56253. Is the number on the bottom of the bottom bracket? All I can see is a weld across the bottom. Does the rack and chainguard appear to be original? I thought maybe aftermarket from a long time ago. Thanks again.

    Help with Hawthorne

Was wondering if someone could tell me the year of this Wards Hawthorne. Found it several years ago on garbage night along with a girls JC Higgins and another boys(24inch) Wards Hawthorne with a double top bar(maybe 1960's?) Started to clean it up a bit with Scotchbrite and WD40 but have not...

    Schwinn Slimline Tank question

Would you be willing to sell that 24 inch slimline tank? I' could use one for my son's 1965 Fleet. Thanks.

    Help with ID of Schwinn

Thanks for all the advice, now just need time to start disassembling it. Just want to make it better than it is but will certainly be an amatuer restoration. Maybe I will look for a tank for it, repaint and mechanical refurbishment.

    Help with ID of Schwinn

Wow that car is sweet! Maybe there is hope for my bike yet. I noticed today that my bikes original grips are red under the electrical tape someone wrapped them in. Could this be a clue to what model this bike might have been along with the red forks and rack support? I think I might repaint it...

    Help with ID of Schwinn

Yes the front wheel appears to have been painted over the chrome as it is peeling off a bit, It does have a fork lock more on the inside than on the side, but no key, When i dissemble it maybe I can get a better read on the ser. number.

    Help with ID of Schwinn

Thanks, I might try the wire cup brush and see how that goes. I always prefer to save the old paint especially because I have not found a good way to reproduce any graphics or designs on the chainguards, racks, tanks, etc, but there are no designs on this bike and the paint is shot anyway...

    Help with ID of Schwinn

Seems like I'm missing a number on the end of that ser.#. Would it most likely be a 1955 model?

    Help with ID of Schwinn

I did not even notice the front fender was backwards. Now I can see it clearly. It looks like the ser. # is T4857 0r maybe T4357. Hard to read. Paint is probably not worth saving, not much of it left. I realize regionally prices might vary, but how much about would media blasting a frame and...

    Help with ID of Schwinn

Hello, picked this up the other day for $50. It's pretty weathered and the seat has been recovered with vinyl. Have not been able to find a serial number, seller stated it was a 1957. Any ideas on year or model? The red fork and fender support have me confused but I'm no expert. The paint is...

    24 inch Schwinn Fleet tank

Looking for a tank for a boys 24inch Schwinn Fleet. I believe my bike is a 1965 or 1966 model. Thanks

    1965 Schwinn Fleet 24inch

Hello, just bought an all original 24inch 1965 or 66 Schwinn Fleet from its original owner. Missing the tank. My question is this, are there two different size tanks for the 24 inch and 26 inch? I would think the 26 would not fit. Thanks in advance.

    Repaints

Thanks. Always in the back of my mind when I'm riding is my wheels failing. Always try tighten loose spokes and true them as best I can. Would a sign shop be the best place to reproduce graphics or decals instead of silk screening? I'm not all that computer savvy to try to do it myself.Thanks...

    Repaints

Hello, I know that keeping the original paint is optimum, but a couple of my bikes are pretty rough and I don't think they have much monetary value.(60's boys Ross, girls J.C. Higgins, etc.) I would like to possibly repaint them. My question is, is there some way of copying and reproducing the...
