Some backstory: wrenching since I was w kid but never really overhauled and restored something until a few years ago. The first real project is now on the block. Not an ideal keeper: frame too small for my size, too heavy to ride a distance, and I could use the space.
At the same time I kind...
Cleaning a newly removed 5 speed freewheel from a restoration, per normal. Saturating the tines, moving dirt, an odd layer on top. Turns out it's a dust cover sponge of some sort - a blockade for particulate from the inside of the hub.
As I picked it out, I kinda winced. Is it necessary? Maybe...
I'm overhauling an 80 LeTour and thinking about ditching the twin sticks for downtube shifters. As there are no braze-ons, I wondered if an adapter would be worth it (and if size matters). Thoughts please?
Aloha! Picked up a Le Tour on Monday and have been unable to locate straight info regarding country of origin of this one. I've got stone conflicting info on the serial and wondered if anyone can spot the odd with what I have.
Also, I dont see the Japanese disclaimer on the frame and wonder if...

Aloha!

I've found an importer in the area but nothing specific as to fabrication.
Full disclosure: I grew up in the Midwest and in a Schwinn family. Ive never owned, ridden or even briefly looked at a Ross bike.
So, as a strictly casual lightweight vintage bike, what say you? Worth restoring? Cheap? Paperweight? Spill it already. :-)
Just wondered if anyone out there may have some lime green NOS handlebar tape out there. Ive got the campus flavor which doesnt have the same sort of love.
Thanks in advance.

Aloha!
I'm refurbishing two lime green lightweights ('79 and '74) and have noticed that the handlebar tape I'm removing appears to be lighter and/or have more yellow than what I'm putting on: NOS Hunt-Wilde translucent green tape. Just wondering if they made a lighter version that I don't know...
I've been overhauling gifted Schwinn lightweights for about a year now, and someone will be giving me a (what I imagine is) a mid-70s Olympia Sprint Junior.
While the American bikes are pretty straightforward regarding tools, I have no experience with an Italian bike. I was wondering other...
