So I pulled the trigger on this bike tonight. Here’s a photo of the serial number. Kinda hard to make out though. Tomorrow I’ll dig more into this bike.
I was thinking the same thing. I don’t know about trashing the Morrow tho. I just paid to have it rebuilt! Maybe I can trade it for something cool.
(Opps, I had connectivity issue and hiccuped.)
I think I figured it out! I had it upside down and I was pedaling with my hand on the tire to cause tension and I could see the chain slipping on the rear cog. It was making the noise, not as loud but I believe it was the same noise!
That rear cod has seen a few miles, huh?
I bought new bottom bracket rebuild. The cups went in but not near as tight as the original ones. Got it all together and it still makes the same noise. Argh!!! Only happens when I push with force. Frustrating!!!
So you think this is causing that noise?
Also, I bought new berrings, went for a ride, still clicking. Then I took it apart and the berring balls were dropping out of the casing!
I pulled the bottom bracket apart and greased the berrings. It seemed fine. There was some wear on the cups, but not bad.
The chain was not dry and I oiled it up too.
Do you think that the chain has stretched? Would it make that kinda noise?
Thanks! I’m having an issue though: When I pedal with weight/force it makes a creaky noise. I had the hub rebuilt and greased the front sprocket berrings. It still creaks! When I have it on a stand and pedal there is no noise. It’s hard to tell where exactly the noise is coming from.
I recently picked up a 1936 Cleveland made bike with rear Morrow hub. When I pedal with weight/force it makes a creaky noise. I had the hub rebuilt and greased the front sprocket berrings. It still creaks! When I have it on a stand and pedal there is no noise. It’s hard to tell where exactly the...
Yeah, I don’t know. I can’t find any information on the head badge either. The rear hub is morrow and has F 4 punched into it, and the serial number on the bike is A52942. Any info is much appreciated!!
