I'm new at old bikes. Was told that my bike is 1950, but the more that I read, the more I wonder. stamp is clear on frame: MOS-P, MOD-502-276. Thanks for any accurate info!
I'm still new at this stuff! I've restored my 26" balloon Higgins bike. What can I use to hold it upright for displaying, other than its kickstand? Homemade simple device or ready made one I can purchase. Thanks!
Couldn't resist yard sale of old Higgins bike. Stayed with my restoration job and about 99% done. Original bike didn't have tank jewels, just those open bezel things that had rust on the inside. So, I used thin headed chrome bumper bolts to plug the holes. (apologies to the purists)! Thanks to...
My first time to the Bicycle Heaven museum in Pittsburgh. I was told by many to be prepared to be overwhelmed. How true! Owner, Craig Morrow was a great guy to talk to. I came away with a new part that I needed. But out of the roughly 4000 bikes, he didn't have one exactly like the one I'm...
I'm very new to this site. So far my questions have been answered quickly and with good advice. I was in need of a special bearing and race for my 1950 Higgins bike that I'm restoring. I posted my need under "wanted" thread. Gordon Bradburg answered quickly & said he had what I needed. His...
Trying to determine problem with my nice clean Delta horn. Getting no results with new batteries (2) and everything in good shape. Question: can the coil be bad and still read continuity through it?
Need to know before I do something stupid! Will the tires and rims ( 26") from a 1959 Higgins Flightliner Delux girls bike interchange with a Higgins 1950 Color Flow girls bike, 26" ?
I'm new to this forum & just lately got an old bike to restore. Thus memories of my first and only bike came to mind. I grew up on a farm in the 50's and had no bike. But the township just black topped the main road. My two neighbor guys, my own age had old junker bikes and were enjoying the new...
Got my Higgins Color Flow totally dismantled now but run into a problem. Even with lots of penetrating oil, I can't get the handle bar bracket to come out of the top fork assembly. Is it supposed to slide up and out? I've been tapping but no movement. Everything was nice and clean to begin with...
Just got this J C Higgins Colorflow, about 90% original. # MOS-P, Mod 502-276. The headlight is missing. Should it have a 'Batwing' light, or were other lights used on this model? Also, how many different color combinations were used on this bike? Thanks for any help!
I live about 35 minutes from this museum. I never knew that it existed. I see that at the end of August they are having a parts swap meet. Have any of you been there? Would it be a good place for a "newbe" to go and look & ask questions?
