Finally finished. Mocked up for display, but ready for tires...1902ish Pierce Pan am with the correct rear and front flangeless hub, early dimpled fork and cool original leaf/coil laclede seat.
Pretty crappy condition, but......serviced and smooth...great look.

1895 Buffalo cycles Envoy.....thanks to Reed @Underground Bicycle Shop for a good deal on the early clincher wheels and hubs, and Jesse @Jesse McCauley. for making some nice chains available.

This poor elgin got the restomod treatment with parts I had laying around....."new" fake patina paint and 3 speed upgrade....kick arse Niagara badge....some old and repro bits gives it a nice new lease on life.
I use tufo tape with good results......get them real clean. I use some stout hockey stick tape for spoke protection sometimes.
never had a failure.
I don't ride hard on old wheels though.....smooth and slow. Many of mine are fixed gear ....no brakes.. so, you know, ......ride as fast as you...
It's attached to a 1953 traveler frame....I put this together for fun, but it's relatively useless....come get it in WNY for 50 bucks.
pretty cool 70's novelty friction drive thing made to run on a car battery......test drove it today on a beat boat battery......ran "great" till the dry rotted...
My rider 1905 pierce chainless got a spring fork upgrade for dual cushion comfort......pretty nice patina match....a little nickel plate still there.....looks nice.
Selfishly I love the pierce thread, which has evolved and helps when looking for period correct parts etc.....I would hope to expand on someday.
While I don't always care on more modern stuff,
Knowledge on these and other TOC items fascinates me.

My wife took a bad hit in a head on collision which left her with two broken legs, and other issues.....after a few days of hospitals and being a full time nurse I got a minute to open a nice package from Jeff....@Rustngrease.

Sort of my question from the start Brant,
I have been disappointed with overcleaning in the past.......still when a guy knows there is paint, nickel,etc.. that would come around with some effort it's hard not to start cutting away the dirt and grease.
I think the grime will stay, and.....after...

but ......real neat "Casco button tread.....Buffalo NY" Tires got massaged back onto the rims so that they spin nice for display ...then a gentle wd40 wipedown.....pulled the headbadge and think this is original Carmine/green paint.
......easy decision to leave this as is...

I can't decide whether to "lightly clean" this one or not....still don't know if it's an emblem built or another buffalo built .....maybe globe? .......2 inch drive pin on crank.....maybe original paint with crude pins......not sure.... has original casco tires, which are super cool and a nice...
Sorry for the lousy pics, and description.......the glue is heavy where the stem meets the housing, and where the housing is cracked in two places. the stem is not brazed, and is not damaged.

Well, I don't know.......maybe not hull, but it would look good on a beater firestone supreme......glue all over it, no base clamp, short shaft, cracks.....issues, but cool.....someone could use this.
