That's a great price for your Lemond. I was looking a while back and they were going upwards to 1,000. I was also looking for an older Dura Ace group set such as the one on the bike and they were going for 600-800. I'd say 250 is a steal.
I got my braking problem fixed on my 27 Ben Hur. The crank would turn a full revolution before stopping the bike, no bueno. I had a brake liner machined for me by a local machinist. I also replaced the transfer spring. The brake engages a whole lot better now.

Not yet. I put it on the back burner to allow the hair to grow back were I was scratching my head at on this one. I'm sure I'll come up with something.
WOW, you are a bigger man than I. I think in the back of my mind I'd be asking myself, "would my family be more comfortable in the garage"? At least your family will know what a big sacrifice you made for them.
Good Evening, I have an old Ben Hur with 28" wheels. The rear wheel spins almost a whole revolution before it stops. I was told here that you can add a shim to the inside to help it brake better. I'm over my head on this one. Anyone out there know how to do this?? Thank you, Mike
It's pretty cool how they preserved the boxes by taking the contents out and laying them flat. If not most if not all would have been destroyed. Great find.
Hi There, Anyone out there know how to repair/rebuild a 1927 New Departure rear hub? It has a faded stamp that reads A1?? When I apply the brakes the crank spins 1/2 to 3/4 way before stopping. Any help is appreciated, Mike
