Wartime Schwinn New World Bikes - We Know You Have Them - Tell Us About Them!!

Looks like I botched my previous response. Unfortunately, this was my complete racer from post number 470 on this thread. I sold the bike complete to another gentleman and he eventually sold it to a bike shop. The bike shop must have sold it to this guy who sells a ton of stuff on eBay and he...

Help identifying the year and possibly the model

I am thrilled to say that I picked up this gem from @HerrOtto today. It was great to meet him and have some discussions about this beautiful bike. Great seller and I can’t wait to start refurbishing/preserving this beautiful piece of history. Also, in 2022 I was able to pick up one of the other...

    Schwinn and Lucifer

I had the same Lucifer light set that came on my 47 continental that I obtained from the original owners family. They drilled the rear light into the fender.

    Wieboldt badged Admiral?

My apologies, I just saw that you were only looking for pictures and I completely botched the whole thing up. That new world had an excelsior badge on it and for whatever reason I did some badge swapping. I just looked through some old pictures. The admiral badge belongs on the admiral straight...

    Wieboldt badged Admiral?

I hate to even say/throw it in your face, so to speak. I do have one and it’s on a 40-41 prewar new world. I really don’t want to part with it though. The frame also has an admiral decal so I’m sure it came on the bike. The only reason I don’t really want to part with it, is I have never seen...

    1951 Black Phantom Excelsior

Yup, but with the small hole spacing it would definitely need to be one of the earlier style badges like this. Right?
  17. J

    1951 Black Phantom Excelsior

I don’t think they used that sprocket on the early ones at all. I don’t think that sprocket happened until 57 or so in the phantoms. Should be the 52 tooth sprocket
  18. J

    1951 Black Phantom Excelsior

My 51 panther has the same badge. I’m pretty sure the hole spacing is closer together than the large oval badge. I have a early 50 green phantom that has a planes and trains badge too. They seem to be less common for sure. The large oval schwinn is the common badge.

    Old continental survivor

@Balloontyre Pretty close to my 2139 serial. Hubs should be the schwinn dural aluminum hubs. Any history of where the bike resided for most of its life? Do you plan on hanging onto it or do you think you might sell it? Thanks, Jim

    Old continental survivor

@Balloontyre Very cool. Definitely spot on with the one I own except your paint and pins are much nicer. They seemed to mainly advertise for the 46-47 model which has the stainless fenders. I was under the impression that those were the first continentals after the war. But, after finding mine...

Wartime Schwinn New World Bikes - We Know You Have Them - Tell Us About Them!!

Yeah but whizzers is definitely not the bulky regular one. His definitely looks like the paramount hub to me. I zoomed in a bit. What do you think? The regular ones are the single piece

Sold 28" Mead Ranger For Sale

Out of curiosity, is this a safe way to modify and reuse these rims? I have a similar bike I am redoing and would love to reuse the rims but I do want to ride it a decent amount. If it is safe, how was the wood evenly removed around the rim? Any info is appreciated. Also, what size are the...

    1940/1941 Excelsior year/parts opinions

I guess we should make it 3 that have shown up recently. This is the tall boy 20” BA98-OS version. I picked up this guy recently and need to grab a guard for it. Needs some serious paint refurbishing but it should come back very nice. I do have the correct seat for it too. Definitely cool bikes

    54 Schwinn Jaguar on ebay

I know rarity doesn’t necessarily mean money but you would think these should be closer to phantom money. I realize no tank or springer but definitely a heck of a lot harder to come by than a phantom. That green one a month or so back I think didn’t even sell for $800 or so and that one was...

Pre '33 AS&CO Serial Number Project

Hey guys, I just picked up this guy and I’m hoping it could be a schwinn. The serial is 422210. I haven’t pulled the crank yet but I think I will this evening because I’m dying to know. This would fall into the 1928 bracket if you think it’s a schwinn. It has a model c nd which to my...

Drum brake on a regular ballooner blade fork?

I know you could order a drum brake as a add on for most balloon tire schwinns. My question is, did they offer that front drum to go on a post war ballooner with a standard blade fork? I know from what I have noticed is that they always seem to be on the springers. If they did offer them to be...
