Hi, I finally found a tank for my wife’s Electra Hawaiian ! It’s from a 1950’s Schwinn girls bike. Probably from a Starlet or Hornet. I attached two Electra decals on tank sides.
Selling my 2010 Pashley Guvnor Classic English path racer. 28”, 3 speed.
I added mudguards, leather frame protector, Brooks tool bag, custom luggage rack with CatsEye LED flashing tail light. I made it into a touring type bicycle but all these add on can be easily be removed. I did turn the...
Beautiful ride! Thanks for the photo! My Panther is from 1959 and in reality a Panther 2. Couldn’t find a radiant red Panther 2 chainguard to replace missing part. Had to settle for Panther 3 chainguard. Your Panther could be called a Panther 1 ! :)
That’s what I was doing when I took the picture of the Schwinn!
Yes, it’s a very nice view. We were lucky enough to buy this lot and build our house here in 1990. If you look hard enough you can spot my 1953 Arkansas Traveler moored at the dock.
When I was a kid I had a hand-me-down beat Rollfast. I always wanted a new Schwinn but dad couldn’t swing it.
I found this Panther in a yard sale about ten years ago for $25.
I replaced the missing racks, headlamps, and chainguard. Bike should have the Panther 2 guard but I couldn’t find one...
After the yard work today, while putting away the tractor. A old friend caught me eye, sitting quietly in the garage. My old Schwinn Panther was asking for a ride. Aired up the tires, washed the dust off and away we went. Flashback to 1959 and I’m pedaling to Elwood Kindle School!
Looks just fine the way it looks to me. I prefer to just fix what’s broken and then ride and enjoy them. I was given this 1937 Westfield by neighbors, it had been in a barn and was underwater courtesy of hurricane Sandy. I just took it apart cleaned and greased the bearings and replaced tires...
When I was a kid I took a New Departure hub apart just to grease it. What a mistake!
All of those keyed and Plain disc fell out onto my front porch floor. I tried for hours trying to get it together. I finally gave up and waited for my dad to get home.
We live on a river and one day I was working on my Schwinn Panther 111. A fellow came paddling down the river in a kayak, saw my Schwinn and started singing “ tequila “ !
Now my Panther has a lot of chrome on it, fenders, racks, etc. Guess it does look gaudy by what’s out there today?
Saw Electra manufactures a bicycle with a tank! It’s called a “Attitude “! Haven’t had any luck in finding it available as a replacement part.
The folks that purchased the Electra company aren’t as helpful with parts as Electra once was.
Seems whenever a company is bought out it’s never the same.
I was looking at pictures of boys Schwinn bikes with the cantilever frame like a Phantom would have. Has anyone tried fitting that type of tank to a Electra? Frames look similar.
I apologize for this not being a post about a vintage bicycle. Although perhaps a vintage item may be available for this post.
My wife has a Electra Hawaiian 26” girls bicycle that our children purchased for her some ten years ago or so.
Nice riding bicycle but she would like to have a tank with...
The bicycle I lusted for was a Schwinn Panther II or III. Dad never could swing that kind of money for a bicycle. I wound up with a beat up old Rollfast hand me down. Many years later I came by a Panther in yard sale for $25. Bought that puppy on the spot!
Hi, I thank you for the quick reply. My dad had the exact same bike when he was eleven or twelve. I would love to own it but for the fact of me being in NJ and waiting on a buyer of my Iver Johnson to pay me , I’ll have to wait and see what happens. I also have a Lionel Prewar Standard Gauge 380...
I know of Pashley Bicycles that are manufactured in Stratford-On-Avon in England. Just wondering if there are any collectors-riders of vintage Pashleys?
I really like the looks of their Guv’nor a retro looking path bike.
Thank you! Your probably correct. Looking at a Elgin Cardinal , I see the same paint details you mentioned.
After all these years believing dad had an Iver!
Hello, I have a circa 1915 , 28” Iver Johnson Truss Frame bicycle for sale.
I bought it as a abandoned project. Fellow I purchased it from said it didn’t have wheels, pedals, handlebars, basically just a frame. He installed a set of Schwinn handlebars and crank sprocket, a set of newer 28”...
Hello all, I came by a Iver Johnson Truss Frame abandoned project today. The fellow I bought it from found it at a yard sale years ago. He said it didn’t have any of its wheels, handlebars, or saddle. He had aquired a set of newer 28” wheels, a pair of Iver Johnson fenders and chainguard. Put...
I thought it may have been a Mobicycle. Thank you for the kind words and catalog photo.
I wish I did have that bike. I have a suspicion that it went to a scrap drive during WW2.
He joined the Army Air Corps after Pearl Harbor.
Someday I’d like to find a similar Mobicycle.
Hello, I came by this photo of my dad posing with his new Iver Johnson bicycle. I think it may have been a Super Mobicycle? Not sure, and regretfully dad passed away in 1970. Can’t ask him this and a lot of other questions I didn’t think to ask when he was with us. So if there are any Iver...
Have a original 1937 Westfield-Columbia girls bicycle. Looking to buy a period correct headlamp for this bike. I’m looking for something that is old-rusty-dented. Don’t want a $100. Unit like I see on eBay.
Have for sale two nos Dunlop 24x 1.75 whitewall tires plus tubes on eBay for $25.00, available to forum members for $20.00. Tires have never been installed, just dirty from storage.
