Thanks for posting this, I just hit the buy-it-now button and will be picking it up soon. My Granddaughter is also a Schwinn collector with a 75 Lil Chik, 1957 Spitfire and now this super nice Collegiate. I'll be cleaning it up and putting new tires & tubes on it.

It's just me, but I would slide a polished set of stainless steel fenders on her and just stand back and admire.

That sticker on the front fender declaring that the bike is 100% American made is also a plus, most are long gone.

W/W tires came in, seat also made it so I took it for a test ride. Very smooth! The search is on for a decent set of fenders. If anyone has a nice set of Spitfire Red & Cream fenders for a 26" middleweight, or a nice set of 26" chrome fenders please LMK.

Who said they weren't coool?? They remind me of the BF Goodrich safety reflectors, and I would mount them low on a classic chrome or stainless fender!

It's actually a 26", but it does look smaller. It came without fenders, so the hunt is on. A rear rack is something else I'm considering.

Only S-7 tires will fit S-7 rims. For 26" S-7 rims the biggest tire is 26" X 2" X 1 3/4" made by Kenda, EBAY is a good source.

Very nice early Corvette, most of it will clean up nicely - there are some pits on some of the chrome that are now part of the bike. Patina! Your missing the rear reflector, best to place a wanted ad here rather than buy on Ebay.

It can't be all original if it's missing the rear reflector. The grips are also not correct.

It appears that the rear wheel has been changed out to a single speed coaster wheel.

I have a serial # sheet that I down loaded from OldRoads.com many years ago that is very accurate. It shows your serial # to be a 1955 date.

The rear reflector is incorrect. It's in really nice shape though - love the patina!

There are none on Ebay - the closest is a 24" X 1 3/8" Slik for Manta Rays. I have even searched completed sales going back over a year with no luck.

I almost agree that these would make a fun and decent rider for a young person, except for the quality issue. You could put a good coat of wax on the entire bike and keep them indoors and you would still fight a losing battle with rust & corrosion.

I think they were marketed to 11-12 year olds, and would be hard to ride for an adult. They do lend themselves quite nicely to a poor man's Manta Ray conversion though. As such I have several in my collection, most have been converted to 3 speed bikes.

Schwinn made a 5 speed Speedster (and a 5 speed Breeze) for a couple of years in the late seventies. They were 24" wheeled bikes available in only two colors - Red & Blue.

Pretty decent rear fender for an early 60's Corvette or Jaguar. Stainless steel, has a couple of small dents where someone was riding on a rear rack, has the tear drop reflector that was painted silver. $35. plus the ride.

No reason not to be proud of your purchase, you got a good deal on the pair. The 5 speed can be a lot of fun riding around the neighborhood or taking to car shows and such.

You're in serious trouble. In today's world a certain amount of tolerance for ignorance and stupidity is essential for your own well being and sanity.

These caps come in two sizes, one for middleweights and one for lightweights. They come with or without a hole for bikes that have front caliper brakes. They have not been re-popped.

Changed out the rear fender on my 58 Corvette. A lot more work than it seems like. The replacement fender had a few less dings on it, plus it also had a single hole to mount the correct reflector.

I missed seeing the tension adjusters, so it is obviously pre war. Also the dog leg crank and early chain guard. Decal on tank appears to read "Majestic".

Not pre war, certainly not worth $1000. in my book.
