Goldie! Why, Goldie is a diamond in the rough. So to speak.
But it's nothing a good hammer and some new spokes can't
bring back into alignment. Think positive. This is Goldie we're
talking about here. He deserves better. π And even dirty
Klunker Kid is Kool too.
Looking good my friend. And 72 is the new 42, which ain't bad. Hey, I just made
myself 27 in June! Which also makes your new bike only 47 years old too. New
math. π I'm loving the red and white highlights. The Seminole head badge and
St. Christopher's Medallion are great too. Please show her off...
You should consider checking out Rat Rod Bikes. Maybe post it there. This bike is an early Rat.
I'm diggin' on those chopped fenders and the tall goose neck. Especially with that seat and that
Kendall decal. C'mon. Awesome. Some people like the rusty rot pocks in the steel. That's tough
to...
I think he may have created this imaginary scenario just prior to his surgery
as a kind of mental anesthesia. Reading these responses will relax and calm
his mind in preparation for the operation. Does anyone really care how soon
or late a seller responds, whether or not our level of interest...
This, my friend, is what is known in the hobby as a diamond in the rough.
Merely awaiting the colors and finishes of our own choosing and talent.
With a paltry admission price listed within. Why, my mind races with the
limitless possibilities of the mixing pallet! I'm already picturing the...
I needed a Jeep and small trailer shipped from IL to Long Island.
I had to vet several USHIP folks before I found one that met my
expectations and price. Turns out the minute they hear Long Island
New York the delivery price doubles. The sketch people that called
me back to deliver were all from...
Looking for seat frame parts for a Persons Majestic seat from a Westfield Columbia G519 military bike.
In particular the seat frame bar and seat post clamp that goes with it.
photos borrowed from THECABE G519 NOS Parts Library post
So, whatever happened with this bell project? Were you able to get everything back together?
How did the bell top attach back on again? Was there enough of the old rivet left or did you
have to add something to make it attach again? So many questions. So much time has passed. π
Ride in Peace Ian. This prayer's for you, your family and all who mourn your passing.
That even in the darkest days, heavy with sadness, we all have the light of knowing
our eternity is not here, nor was it ever meant to be. Good people remain with us in
our hearts and we will meet again.
Amen.
Adrian, you are the best my friend. Thank you so much. However, I think there may be a problem with these dimensions.
If the OD red is 6.50mm then I'm not sure if the ID yellow can be greater at 13.7mm even if it is the thread size. No?
It shouldn't be a problem for me anyway, as I do have a...
UPDATE: 3/30/24 "Right" drop stand SOLD.
Selling two one 26" drop stand and a basket support.
Drop stand is $50 including shipping to the lower 48. The "Left" Drop stand is off of
a '30s Schwinn, but the brackets have been removed. Basket support came off of a 40's
ladies Schwinn New...
From a manufacturing perspective I like how they used two basic materials.
Looks like 1/2" X 1/8"? flat bar stock and rivets. All the rest is cutting,
rounding the ends, bending, hole punching and riveting. Paint and dry.
I'm amazed at how heavy these early add-ons are, without any consideration...
Start a new thread and post photos of the work. I'm curious to see how it may be done and the results.
I had thought of grinding the rivet head to remove the bell. Then heating and hammering the embossing
out, then doing the tin work to smooth it out before painting. Never tried it.
Buster Armstrong sounds like a movie star or a nom de plum! Cool name.
And those are the Russet Service Shoes with a shine like that. Definitely
early war, Stateside. Both hands perfectly covering the hand grips. π
I love the clarity of the subject due in part to the white building backdrop.
Before I forget to ask, can you provide the measurements of the chain adjuster
on the frame? And is the I.D. is threaded or not? Thank you.
Blue: Length= Red: O.D.= Yellow: I.D.=
I would try that one in the frame and see how it lines up. If it looks right, I'd go with it.
Here's a photo of mine pre-threading with the cut piece of the threaded part tied on
with string as a reference. I noticed the parts from the seat rebuild too with the OD green
painted frame with seat...
On the topic, I can recall that I had actually cut the tube down to size myself.
I used another set of similar sized forks and judged off of the frame tube. I
cut it with a Rigid pipe cutter, nice and clean. Then I tried to use a threaded
nut to cut and make new threads, to no avail. That's...
This kid was hot stuff back in the day. I love that front fender light set up.
I, personally, have never seen that light with the "rhino horn" like that.
I'd consider that a unicorn among fender lights. Awesome how it wasn't
broken at some point in the last 90 years. This thing will be popping...
@Krakatoa should be able to help. He was able to cut down a set of forks
from a girls bike and correctly re-thread the tube for me. Great work by the
way and very reasonable.
Wow. Talk about beginners luck. That is a phenomenal find. Welcome to the CABE.
Wow. They're really out there just waiting to be found. And for $40 bucks? Wow.
I wonder if the frames were the same and interchangeable and maybe just the
seat pans were different between men's and women's ? Need both to make
the comparison.
The trick is that even if you find the frame, you still need the seat pan,
which as I recall is two parts? Top and bottom pans with the seat leather
sandwiched between? π§And also the seat post clamp. That seat post
clamp is wide enough to handle the military seat frame rail. As noted in
Johan's...
The correct seat frame is another item on my wish list. I made do with
a civilian Persons Majestic that isn't perfect but looks right using the
5X50 rule. π 5 feet distance and 50 miles per hour to see it go by.
The correct seat has a wider frame bar (I believe it's 1 7/8" high ?) which
is...
It's been a personal quest of mine for quite a few years now. The front fender for the Columbia is rather specific
and I'll do my best to describe it. I don't know if the Huffman fenders are the same or not, as I haven't researched
those.
Yes, it is gothic style or peaked. It does have a...
I'd bid on it if I were still living out that way. Someone is going to get it on the cheap.
Especially compared to the $1,200 price tag for new. I'd be jumping out of everything
with that bike. Back of a pickup truck while it's still rolling... GO!!! Helicopter from the
skid without a...
Wow, you guys clearly have the facilities and the knowhow. While the frame is still raw
you should consider re-doing the rear dropouts to the correct style. What your frame has
is the typical civilian type dropouts, which by comparison to the G519 are a bit smaller,
lighter and will have the...
There's one for sale right now here on the CABE for less than what it would take to get everything you'll need.
Trust me on this. I'm still hunting for certain parts and it's been at least four years running.
Not that the work you've accomplished already isn't impressive, it's just as you say...
I love the angry guys that won't accept any "reasonable" offer for an item and yell "I'll cut
it to pieces and burn it before I sell it for any less!" Wow. I was not expecting that level of
go-to-hades response. Okay then, tell me where you live because I want to see you do it! π
Here's to a...
βYou don't wanna get mixed up with a guy like me. I'm a loner, Dottie. A rebel.β
Pee Wee
Great score on that iconic bicycle my friend. Awesome. π
Look out Newville, PA and the GWA! This is a game changer for the Imperial Germans! Krieg! π
These would sell like hot cakes at the Tractor Store! Yes! I'm in for one of these. Der Kinder Panzer!
