I am reducing the amount of some of the items on my basement shelves and have Barry Gray's great book about Schwinn head badges. I read it and enjoyed it but I think others may be able to use it more . If anyone can pay shipping and would like it, it is yours.
I am in 64086 ZIP and I bet media...
Hello all, looking for a decent black Schwinn Scrambler fork.
As long as it is straight, things are good.
Finish is not terribly important.
Should be dated 1975 till around 1980.
Let's see what you all might have you need to get rid of.
Thank you!
We used to live by the drag strip so we'd sneak in on MX night and I could ride a wheelie for over 1/8 mile. Once you got it balanced , it was pretty straightforward. Just took the right leaning back attitude and the right amount of pedal power!
John, I too noticed the cut out and figured that this must be an aftermarket version threaded the same as Schwinn. Is it safe to assume it is a 1979 version? And, since there is absolutely no chrome, it must have been one of the Ashtabula blackened versions?
It is a 6.5" version by the way...
I have been digging in my saved stash of stuff and came across a few things I need help with.
First one is this: can you all verify that this is indeed a 1979-1980 Ashtabula black crank? I bet it aftermarket .
I am pretty sure it has the 28 TPI Schwinn threads on it since it had Schwinn...
I've seen one like this and seems like it had a white banana seat. GT, not much room on the drop center rim for a brake pad though, is there? It sure looks like it had something in the fork.
I've got a Volume 1 manual sitting on my shelf that I figure another person needs more than I do. I would like to get $45 for it plus shipping. I suspect shipping might be around $10 media mail but I can verify if you share the destination Zip Code. I am in 64086.
It is little rough on the...
CBJ: I looked for the patent and never found one. But, many companies apply and then use the "patient pending" as limited protection. It may be there is a method patent Schwnn got for the way they made it but I found nothing from 70 till 90 related to the sprocket or chainwheel. I wonder what...
Juvels, I have never seen another set in white so I bet they too are from the same time frame: 1971 to 1976 or so.
Good luck with the Raleigh; I remember seeing them for sale.
Did someone say Bluemels Popular fenders? Still have mine I put on my Gitane when I built it in 1974. I used to ride it to work and needed to keep the spray off the back of my dress shirts. Sorry for horrible fluorescent light distortion of the color in images.
John, any idea what the rear one looks like for sure? I have rectangular one but it was one Schwinn used.
Oops, never mind.I found an image of a screamer and the one I have is way off. Sorry John.
The first one does look a little light on HD parts but the disassembled one has ones that match bikes in this photo. And the second has the right chain "guard" for sure.
Gt, that is the book I am looking for only for the mid 1970s. Love to see one of them as well and thank you for sharing this one. interested in the bolts that held fenders and seats on the later Stingrays.
Good day and thanks for any help.
Does anyone on here have a mid 70s Schwinn parts book? Trying to figure out what the part number is for a 20" rear fender brace, cad plated, not chrome. Like to know the number for the middleweight and balloon tire version. Thank you!

Anyone have set of handlebars for a mid 1970's Schwinn Scrambler in your stash that you need to move? The set I need will be black. This is an image of what they look like; thank you for allowing me to share this photo.

I am trying to find a more accurate photo of the real 1976 Scrambler or the advertisement that will enable me to match this gold color. What might you all have? Thank you! Tom Hand
1972. We built a front suspension for my brother's 24" soon to be BMX bike; it was modeled after the DKW motorcycles. You can see my brother in the photo in Spring 1972 and how well he survived the crash caused by a failure in our front end design. We fixed it and he was back on it after his...
Wow! That is in amazing shape. Those tires look like motorcycle tires. I bet that bike is relatively heavy with the HD rims and tires and spokes. I'll see if I can find one like it in my books too.
