1996 Specialized Rockhopper. One owner and all original except tires. The originals rotted as this bike has low miles (hard to believe when my 1930’s Shelby’s still have their original rubber).
Original California bike shop sticker still intact. This was in my friends shed and it came home...
While dutifully cleaning the gutters at my in-laws house this afternoon, I spy a few bikes over the fence...
A department store girls Schwinn cruiser and some cheap early 90’s MTB. But what’s that behind the shed?
My first Schwinn, and free! It appears to be a 1960’s era pink Hollywood...
Question for more capable CABER’s.
On frames like my 1950’s Monark with a permanently attached seat post clamp. Are these simply tack welded? Press fit? Or?
My idea is to remove and replace with an early 1980’s anodized alloy BMX / MTB seat post clamp on my Klunker project. Example shown...

Need some expert knowledge please.
I believe these boys Truss Rods are actually from a girls bike? Should the top mount be below the fork top nut?
If so, would I trim and rethread the rods the exact amount they are higher than the bottom of the top nut? How otherwise would I know how much to...
Early / Prewar Shelby Fork Question.
Trying to save a barn find Shelby fork, missing the steer tube bearing seat. I am not sure what they are actually called? I can not find one in my parts stash to fit. However, looking closely; I am wondering if these ever had one? It looks as if the top of...
This reflector was on the rear fender (along with a mud flap with reflector) of the Colson I found in a barn this summer. It’s in horrible condition.
Anyone know if it’s original equipment? Optional? Aftermarket?
Does anyone make a reproduction rubber seal or lenses for this design?
Thank...
Can a fellow CABE’r help I.D. these two frames my brother found this morning while out on a farm in Idaho.
Head badges are sun bleached. I’ve asked him to bring them both back.
One says ‘Job Corps’ on the fender.
The rear drop out is a very unusual design?
Thank you!
It just occurred to me, correct me if I am wrong; that girls pedals, Torrington’s as an example, can be converted to boys pedals with new reproduction blocks and longer hardware.
Am I missing something?
I showed this bike the day I pulled it from the generations deep family barn a few months ago. Thought I’d share it as it sits today.
It is missing the head badge and a chain guard.
The original tires were shot (Wards Riverside Mate 20x2.125). I had a new set of modern BMX tires by KINK, size...

I assume they are, but before I buy any reproduction pedal blocks, can a fellow CABER confirm that fitment is a nonissue between Torrington’s 8 & 10?
I am looking to change to brick red pedal blocks on my 8’s and found these available for 10’s. Color change to better match the patina of my...

Pedal question.
Torrington’s vs Persons?
Were both companies suppliers of pedals on New bicycles? In the 30’s? 40’s? 50’s?
I assume Torrington’s were, along with handlebars, etc.
Were Persons an aftermarket upgrade?
More special?
On higher end bikes?
Yes or no?
Yes and no?

I plan to pick them up this weekend. More detailed photos at that time.
Any...
Springer fork mod I thought I’d share with the CABE. One of those brainstorm ideas that can only come from 7 weeks of C-19 isolation
As a life long BMX’er, I just haven’t been satisfied with the ‘performance’ attributes of my springer fork. I built a Huffy Roadside frame to look like...
I was given this Coast to Coast Sportsman for free today. Thankful to have a project to work on, even if it’s not my cup of tea.
3 Speed hardware is missing, as is the front brake and lever.
Perhaps I’ll just ride it as a single speed?
Has a Schwinn seat and what looks to be a much earlier era...
This bike just became available local to me for $100. Head badge reads ‘Trophy’.
I am newer to this specific part of the bicycle hobby. So I don’t know too much yet.
I’ve bought several 26” bicycle books both from eBay and members here.
I assume this is a Rollfast? Pre-War / Post-War?
My...
