Made my own "jeweled" replacement pedals.

Forgive me if this has covered on the CABE before. I just bought a set of modern replacement pedals that mimic the style used in the 1960's. To me something was just missing, so I thought that diamond "jewels" in the already stamped out holes on either side of the reflectors would complete that...

Is there a modern replacement bulb for the old 2.5 volt 3 watt headlamp bulb?

Wanting to replace my current bulbs with something brighter and longer lasting, I ponder if there is an alternative to the older, dimmer ones. These are a 2.5 volt 3 watt filament type bulb. They go into the "tank" headlamp of a 1965 Murray middleweight. Is there an interchangeable plug and play...

What is this painted 26" rim off of?

Today I bought a 1965 Murray Meteor Flite 26" bike and obviously this is not the correct front rim. It is painted off white with two green pin stripes. Any ideas of what it off of originally? Please see pic. Thanks in advance.

Found WANTED: Men's 26" middleweight chrome fenders

Front and rear in good shape. Straight, no large dings, good chrome (or can be polished to), and no scrapes. Fit Hiawatha, Murray, Huffy, etc. Yeah, I could buy new Wald fenders but they are way too short, as you can see in second pic.

Found Wated: Tank and headlight assembly for 1960's Hiawatha men's middleweight

In decent shape, preferably with good electrical insides and battery holder. Tank may of course have some rust but not rusted through. These were used on a few brands of bikes of that era, another being Murray for example.

    Sears Spaceliner. What's it worth?

Sorry, no pics so I will have to rely on my photographic memory. Last Sunday I went to a bicycle swap meet and saw a pretty nice Sears Spaceliner. By all the information out there, all that I could glean it was a 1966-68 men's model 46922, or so I think. Let me describe it to you. All chrome...

Took first place in class and best of show with this 1963 Hiawatha 26" that I rescued from the outside bike junk wall.

From the middle of February until about 2:30 am yesterday morning I polished, replaced and painted parts on this Hiawatha to get best in class and best of show later that afternoon at a local bike show and swap meet. It all began less than five months ago when I was looking for parts for my...

Picked up a "Franken-bike" for parts this weekend.

Found this one was on CL Madison. It is a 1965/66ish twin top tube Hiawatha middleweight, or much of the bike began life that way. I needed the front wheel but found use for the handle bars as the chrome is much better on this bike than on the one that I have. The chain looks almost new and...

Best spray paint to simulate a chrome finish?

There are a few spray paints made in aerosol cans allegedly replicating a chrome finish. Since I can find no companies to re chrome plastic, what have you people used? Sorry if this question has been answered on this forum earlier. Thanks in advance.

Found WTB Circa 1964 Hiawatha 26" men's tank with light

One that will fit the model with twin top tubes as shown in picture. The model with the single top tube will not fit as it is too long. Thanks in advance. Paul

Found WTB Seat tube decal for a Hiawatha 26" middleweight 1960's.

Does anyone have this? About five inches tall and three inches wide. Or do you have a good image of one that I can even go off of and hand paint on my bike? Right now it's difficult to find a good image. Colors are black, white red and gold.

Which position do the batteries go in this tank?

I have an early 1960's Gambles Hiawatha 26" middleweight and am not sure what ends of the D cell batteries go where. I have an idea but am not sure. The batteries fit inside real tight. Thank you in advance.

Found Wanted to buy. Early 1960's Hiawatha front fender emblem.

The one mounted to the top of the front fender made of Plastic/Bakelite material. The one I have was obviously made in two pieces, A semi clear red front, which is broken off and a cream colored base. What is left of it measures about 3 1/2" long, 2" wide and 3/4" tall. Here are some pics...

Can you tell me the year of this Hiawatha/Gambles?

I am guessing an early 1960's, perhaps a 1963. The serial number is WG 3.808A 877366. I just picked it up for parts, namely the tank, but it really does not fit on my 1964. Of well, I could waste my time, money and energy on refurbishing this one. Thank you in advance. Here are some pics.

Replacement plastic lens for a Schwinn approved generator light

Has anyone have a clear and unbroken plastic replacement lens for the Schwinn approved generator light? You know, the Soubitez brand one, 6V 3W, made in France that they sold tens of thousands of during the mid 1960's to as recent as the early 1980's. It has a thick dome lens, an aluminum...

Could anyone identify this serial number from a 196? Gambles Hiawatha?

My dad bought this bike from the Gambles store at the Valley Fair Mall in Appleton, WI around 1965. The S/N is WG3 .. 807C 407805. What year and model is it? My dad did a spray bomb repaint over everything in the mid 1970's obliterating the original paint. Other than that it rides nice. I do...
