Here's a very brief look at what I have for sale. It supercedes any other listing I might've made. They're all located in Crystal Lake, IL. About 50 miles NW of Chicago. Available for viewing, any time. If you're truly interested in any of these - I can probably dig up more detailed pictures...
I'm an old guy (81) with a collection down in the basement...and life issues dictate I sell 'em. If I just let the bikes sit, my three daughters will be faced with finding them new homes - and I'd like to save them the trouble. Most, are fairly rare bikes in my area (just outside Chicago) and...
Here's a bike few people have probably ever seen (though I’m sure there are folks on this site who could read me chapter and verse on it. I’d appreciate any corrections they might offer). An original 1938 Phillips. (Ok...original, insofar as I can tell, except I cleaned it up, respoked it...
This chain is from a not-terribly-old Batavus Old Dutch. I'd like to take the chain off the frame for cleaning, oiling, etc. - but I can't. The other side of this master link is a solid plate - no slots. How do you get this apart? Thanks.
’71 Raleigh Superbe/’69 Raleigh Superbe $650
I’m a small-time collector of older European Bikes (mostly)…and a variety of life issues dictate I begin selling off my collection.
1971 Raleigh Superbe Men’s: I’ve just completed a complete detailing/servicing of this very, very nice bike...
Hello. I need a shift cable clamp for a '71 Raleigh Superbe - as in, pic shown. I also need the lens and bulb for a tailight , pic shown. The bulb is of a push-in variety...and takes two wire leads that push into place. Plus, two fork lock keys - an NGN 12, and an NGN 34. Thanks.
I really need a locknut - I think it's part HM 132 - for my hub. It's nothin' more than a flat nut that holds the brake arm in place. I've attached a pic of my brake cone...plus a pic I got off the internet that pictures what I'm looking for. Anybody?
(The hub is a SA AWC 3 speed with coaster...
Space, time and health issues dictate a herd thinning. All of these bikes are rare enough that I know nothing/close to nothing about them (i.e., company history, year of manufacture, etc.). Insofar as I can tell, they're original (the Osawa has new spokes/freewheel); they all present well. If...
I'm converting a late 70's Raleigh 12 speed into a path racer, and need a chainring in very nice condition...something non-Raleigh and very simple in design, would do. Thanks.
Craigslist seems to have introduced QR Codes instead of the old "reply" button. Those QR thingys don't show up in any listing I view - therefore, no way for me to respond to a listing. Can anyone tell me how this is supposed to work? Thanks.
I'm restoring a '38 Raleigh X Frame...and I've finally gotten around to paying attention to the brakes. This front stirrup has me stumped. I of course, fool that I am, didn't take pictures of this before disassembly - and now I'm paying the price. I can't figure out how/why this stirrup lacks...
I'm restoring a '38 Raleigh X Frame...It's been glass bead blasted; two coats of a high-build primer. My plan is to paint it in a satin black enamel, with clear coats to give it a nice, but not over-the-top shine. More of a gleam. Anyways...there are still small former rust pits, here and there...
I'm going to be painting a frame. I want it in gloss black. Thing is, I seem to be better at spraying a semi-gloss. IF I used a semi-gloss/satin...and followed with multiple coats of gloss clear...would I wind up with a high gloss finish? I'll be using Rust-O-Leum products. Thanks.
I'm trying to figure out the market value on a Lucas Silver King headlamp from the 30's - can anyone advise me what that might be? It'd be for one in "average" condition. I don't have one for sale. I'm just trying to find what a fair price might be; the internet hasn't been any help. Thanks.
I'm restoring a 1938-ish Phillips with a period-correct Cyclo 3 Speed. The shift cables are frozen/broken. Upon disassembly...I discovered that it had not two shift cables - but just one. It's somehow formed into a continuous loop - joined by one of the fittings that seat in either the gear...
I have a question. I'm disassembling the hub on this 1938-ish Phillips with a Cyclo 3-speed. I've gotten this far, easily. Now...how do I get the rest of this off the hub, without causing damage...especially concerned about wrecking the three hairlike pawl springs that are sticking out. Do I...
I'm trying to find what I remember as my first bike - Christmas, 1951. The headbadge said Monark Rocket. It was red, with white accents. I think the year was 1951. It was a base model - no carrier, or other accessories. 24". Anyone have one? Thanks.
I'm looking for the first part of the rear rod brake setup on a '47 Raleigh Low Gravity...the two-piece part that extends from the handlebars down to the pivot stirrup. Mine, seems to be forever bonded together. You can see what heat, various derusting solutions, and too much force have done to...
A change in the direction of my collecting interests and a major health issue dictated selling off my Sears collection a while back. And this is the last of the lot. It's also the best. You might have seen it listed with the others - given a big reduction in my price, I thought a solo listing is...
I had a fender that needed some hammer & dolly work...and I didn't have a dolly that would fit under the fender. I realized I had a hole cutter of exactly the same diameter. So I made/cut this. Far from elegant and at a low level, tool-wise (as is my skill set). But it worked.
I'm buying some parts from the UK...fit in a 24" X 20" X 10" box. 20 lbs.
Can somone recommend a reliable shipper? One that won't ask a fortune? I like ShipBikes for USA-only stuff...but I got a quote of $381 (their "base rate") for the above-mentioned shipment. Yike$! Thanks.
I'm looking for a Raleigh, Sunbeam, whatever European bike from the 50's or back - ladies model. complete/restorable for a winter project. Long shot, but I could work either a '51 Colorflow or a '40 Elgin Sports Deluxe - both original, very good to excellent condition, ladies models - into a...
There's currently one on eBay (an Armstrong, for a too-healthy $2100 if I remember correctly). Anyone have one (could be a Dutch bike...) for sale? Picture is for rough reference, only.
I'm interested in ladies model European bikes from the 30's, 40's - maybe the 20's also. Something that could use a good servicing/cleanup - I'm not doing museum level work. Complete and original is a good start. Anyone have something for sale? I have a '39 Elgin Sports Deluxe; a '51 Sears...
I'm looking for a 40 584 (650B) set of tires in creme, dark red, or all black. No reflective strips. A tread pattern that'd look "right": on an 85-year old bike. No garish logo on the sidewall. Nice used would work; new is fine. Anyone have a pair - or a source? Thanks.
I have an old German bike I'm working on...and the OG paint is cleaning up beautifully. What I'd like to be able to do, is minimize the appearance of rust on the inevitable paint loss areas. In the past, I've simply soaked my stuff in Evapo-Rust; it's done a spectacular job of removing the rust...
Can someone tell me if a rim designated for a rod brake will work on a non-rod brake bike? I'm trying to replace the rims on a '36 Adler - and 26" Westwood rims appear to have the profile that matches. Seems like the answer should be, "Yes". The Adler bike I have, has a paddle brake up front; a...
Anybody know a source for 26 X 1 3/8 (37-590) tires in clay? Gray would be a second choice. Can't find 'em after googling my index finger to a nub. Thanks. Prefer new, but...
Just received/unpacked a 1936 Adler 3 Gang. One pic is from the PO; the other, what it looks like unpacked - headlight/saddle not in picture. Overall, it's in nice shape and everything looks original. As time goes on, I'll be looking for original handgrips (Saarlac?); clay 26 X 1.75 tires...
Reducing my collection. '51 that's all-original with the exception of the tires, and the rear rack scripts - there are excellent repros in place. I believe I replaced the spokes (can't remember at time of writing - easy enough to check. If I didn't, it was because the originals were nice. I like...
I really need this hub. Off a 50's (?) Japanese bike. My threads on the outer race are buggered up. Anyone have one? The early Japanese bikes used/copied so many parts from English bikes (I think) - maybe there's another hub out there. I'll buy a whole wheel, if necessary. I can't swap another...
Please realize I know zero, about Schwinns. I bought this simply because I like purpose-built bikes, and it showed its use - Maintenance Dept., Middle East Airlines. My guess, is it was originally red and sun-faded to its present color. I've done nothing to it...including, not looking for an...
This is a very, very nice Jetflow - all original insofar as I can tell - right down to the Allstate tires. The only real evidence of wear seems to be from storage, not use. The only thing I'd "ding" it on...the chrome on the front fender is getting a bit cloudy; there's a small dent on lower...
I'm working on a 70's Ladies Raleigh, and looking for the following...
Hand grips (black)
Sturmey Archer 3 speed control - just the clear plastic cover would do
A Brooks saddle (in black) appropriate to the era
These items need not be pristine. Nice "used" would do me well.
This is off a Japanese Gold Star made by The Ideal Bicycle Company. Anyone have intimate knowledge of this hub? I need help. Thanks. (And, yes - I know the bearings aren't arranged correctly...)
