I had an off-brand that also doubled as a pet stroller. Great for disabled pets.
With the variety of available types, the choice is mind boggling. Thanks to all who volunteered their personal experience. I ride on the pavement, and prioritize being seen slightly more than the other way around. I have had some experience with the small LED flashlights that take three AAA...
Now that the days are getting shorter, I'm looking for a recommendation on an LED headlight and taillight for my daily rider. I see that they come in rechargeable varieties. I have seen strobe type lights too. I presume that these conserve battery life. I would appreciate anyone's...
I just wanted to share this photo of my father and his J C Higgins bicycle. The picture was taken in East Chicago. I suspect it was the mid to late 40s. Can anyone date the bicycle? My Grandparents also bought me my first big boy bike, a 1966 Schwinn Panther in Coppertone.
1966 Schwinn Panther in Coppertone. 26 inch. Single speed. Excellent original condition. One owner. Not perfect, but pretty clean. New white wall brick tread tires. Front of frame at steering post was touched up many years ago using OEM Schwinn touch-up paint. White paint on tank also resprayed...
Thanks everyone. The information shared is very helpful. If you ever need help with Lionel trains, I might be able to pay back the favor. We have been having some terrific weather near Atlanta. I rode my Schwinn Panther last weekend. I'm 61 years old... it really brought back some great...
Thanks guys. Perhaps there is some demand out there. I have had an offer of nearly 3x that amount! In any event, I am just researching at this point... not yet offering for sale, but considering. Thanks again, Jim
Do we have any authorities on Hamilton Greyhound Wagons? I have an early 60s version complete with side boards and Hubcaps. I am trying to figure its worth. I would call it very good to excellent condition. No rust. The two rear wheels are non-original. Thanks ahead of time.
This is a 26" single speed bicycle with a coaster brake. It is available for pick-up and I am considering offers. The pictures showing black wall tires are older, before I cleaned it up and installed the white wall brick treads. The speedometer and mud flap are non-Schwinn.
1966 Schwinn Panther in Coppertone. Excellent original condition. One owner. Not perfect, but pretty clean. New white wall brick tread tires. Front of frame at steering post was touched up many years ago using OEM Schwinn touch-up paint. White paint on tank also resprayed and masked around...
So cool. I like to see anything old lovingly restored... bikes, toy trains, old cars, houses, anything. Great Job. What did you use to clean up the rims? I recently put a set of new WW on my '66 panther and cleaned it up a little
Thanks to all. The catalog link was partiularly helpful. Yes, it was the Superior. When I bought my first replacement tire in the 70s, the Schwinn dealer sold me a Westwind with brick tread. I didn’t realize there was a difference between 1-3/4 and 1.75. My panther has S-7 rims with 1-3/4...
My mid-60s 26”x1-3/4 Schwinn Panther had a narrow whitewall. Above the whitewalls was a fine diamond pattern. The tread, if I recall, was Just four parallel lines. Are these in production? Does anyone remember these? Thanks.
Thanks guys. I appreciate the help. Thanks to my dad for teaching me the value of washing and waxing a vehicle! Does anyone have experience shipping a bicycle? Where can I get a box?
I believe that my childhood Panther is a 1966 model. It is mostly all original except where the paint was touched up. I did replace the headlamp due to battery damage of the original. The original headlamp was the same except for the sidemarker lamps. The mud flap and the speedometer are...
