Friends,
My long time riding buddy Bill passed away recently and willed me what remained of his boyhood mid-60's middleweight Schwinn. He'd stripped it and ridden the hell out of it, bent the bars and cranks, etc.... I'm in the process of restoring it to original and lack a 26" rear fender in...
Folks,
I'm fixing up a '58 Schwinn American and am in need of one pair of rear fender braces. 26" S7 size please. Also could use a worn but rideable blue S saddle.
Cheers, Bicibob
Old Bike Friends,
Here's your chance to own a fine example of turn of the century American manufacturing. A buddy of mine barn-found this rig back in the mid-eighties in the same condition as you see it in now. Upon acquisition, I removed the front wheel and tucked it in a box as a "someday"...
This 13/16" dia. post came out of a teens lady's bike. A bit over 18" long with decent plating. Nice and straight with a few scuffs and scars as you'd expect for a 100 year old bike part.
One pair of brand new Robert Dean 28" tubulars. $300 plus actual shipping. They're 28" x 1 3/4" in all black with slick tread. They look great on old wood hoops. The pictures tell the story. I was going to use them on a rider project, but have come up with another solution.
Here's what's left of a teens/twenties women's bike. It's been powder-coated incorrect colors, but nicely. Anyone out there looking to build up a pretty bike for your lady may be interested in this. The fenders and chainguard are original to this frame. I'd like to sell this a a package but will...
Old Bike Friends,
Looking for a 28" fork for my 1914-ish Dayton. Trussed or not. Any condition considered. Head tube is 4 1/2".
Also looking for at least 34 12" TOC spokes/nips.
Thanks, Bob
Friends,
Looking for assistance identifying this frame:
Fits 28" wheel
has bottle cap badge hole in 4 1/2" head tube
I have the original rain gutter fenders
Would like to acquire correct fork as I'd like to turn this into a rider. The frame is straight and solid.
I'm guessing Dayton or...
Bike Friends,
I'm building a house and need funds! I've decided it's time to part with my Bluebird. I've owned it since the early 80's when a delinquent type person dragged it in bits and pieces into the bike shop where I worked . At that time (and still,) I was known as being the "old bike...
A brand new NOS early/rare Huret rear derailleur. These units were used by Louison Bobet to win the Tour de France and a couple World Championships back in the late 40's-50's. Known as the "Tour de France" model originally, it became known as the "Type Louison Bobet." It was a popular model...
Here's a beautiful example of a nearly all original Schwinn middleweight. I've been riding this bike around for the past 2 weeks. It's perfectly aligned, the wheels are true and all spokes have tension. The chrome on this bike is super nice. The S-7 rims are the cleanest I've seen in years. The...
Fellow Old Bikers,
I'm building up a '39 Schwinn BA-97 motorbike and only lack a rear fender for it. Need the braces as well, connected or not. condition 4 or better please.
Ride On! Bob
For your consideration: A fine original BA 97 survivor/rider. Solid, straight frame/fork w/o any rot. Left truss rod was bent, but I've managed to convince it back into shape. Only non-original bits are the crank, BB, pedals, grips, 2 spokes in the rear wheel and the chainguard. The saddle was...
Beginning a restoration on my 1949 Shelby Supreme. Only missing piece: This tail light. Bolt holes are 3 1/2" apart. Any leads would be much appreciated!
Thanks, Bob
Fellow Speed-O-Bykers,
I have a beauty for you!
I found it in a friends junkyard under some Model T parts. I saw it last fall, but it was already frozen into the ground. Had to wait until spring to dig it out as it was partially buried in the dirt. I have the original tubular tires, but...
Bike Peeps,
I'm trying to correctly gear my Westfield Empire w/ ND 2-speed for my early morning climb. I have a 24 tooth ring on the bike now but underdrive is too much for my tired old legs. I see someone's selling NOS 22 tooth Wald rings on ebay, so that's an option. Wondering if anyone's...
Friends,
I have a need:
1 New Departure DD 2-speed shifter bolt. The clamshell bolt that the shift lever pivots on. I have a nut.
Anyone out there have one of these? For purchase or trade?
Thanks, Bob
Friends!
I'm looking for a Schwinn forebrake lever, scripted or not. Also needing a New Departure DD shifter and pulley. Crusty condition is fine as both items are for personal riders.
Thanks! Bicibob
Does anyone recognize these bars? I'm not familiar with the whizzers, but these grips both twist as all throttles should. They're a unique bend and the cables route internally.
Thanks, Bob
Bike Peoples,
I'm still in search of a chainguard for my '38 Bluebird project. Also would love to adorn the front fender with an Elgin ornament if there's one out there somewhere.
Thanks, Bicibob
Friends,
I've finally dug out a real gem from my old bike stash. It's a 1938 Elgin Bluebird. Serial# C 78447. It's needing a chainguard and a saddle.
I'll need some other items for this beauty as well..... such as a rear rack. I'd like to connect with other '38 BB folks out there who may...
I like to tell a story about the items I sell here on the Cabe. You see, this isn't a business for me. It's my life.
I purchased this chain in 1972 from an old man who was in the process of closing his bike shop. The stickers on his door told the story. New Departure, Wald, Bendix, Torrington...

Here's a gem you'll want to consider adding to your collection. The 1912 Racycle catalogue lists this Rami model as an entry-level offering on page 17. I also found it in a Good Housekeeping add from 1911 and in...

I caught the Old Bike Bug back in the 1960's. Have found a "Bicycle Goldmine" or 2 over the years. Once peeked into an old man's backyard as I had spied some chrome shining through the cracks in his fence. Immense piles of bikes and parts covered the place. Elgins...

Here's a used pair of Schwinn truss rods. Likely a middleweight item from the late 50's or early 60's. They measure 21 1/4" from top of bracket to end of truss rod. For a 26" wheeled bike. They're in very fine condition, only a little tire rub and...
I just dove into some buckets and coffee cans that I'd not peeked into for decades. Found this NOS New Departure Model D hub shell. 36 hole. I purchased it from the bike shop I worked at back in the '70s. It's been in the same little plastic bag ever since.
Price $60
Location Aztec, NM
Zip 87410
36 hole front is a Model M
36 hole rear is a Model A
