It is a 1982 Schwinn Predator Crome. This was just like my first BMX bike and these don’t get the recognition they deserve. Full cromoly frame and the parts on it are mostly original, minus the back wheel. It should have a matching blue freewheel hub. The SR stem is original.
I just finished building one, I love the straight bar look. Both of the seat stays were broken off the seat tube so I had it welded back and then powdercoated the frame and put a 1951 springer fork on it. Rides like a dream.
The steertube is 7" so it is post war according to all of you. I managed to get the frame the fork was on before I got it and the frame dates to 10/25/1951. I don't know if it was original to the frame but some of the dark green on the steertube matches so I'm going to say it was original...
I need some help from the experts on this one. I have zero experience with springer forks and I need to know if I can take this thing apart so I can paint it. Can the spring be removed and put back in without a press or compressing things? Also, does anyone have any idea about what year it's...
I think I'm the closest to Wixom, I'm in Ann Arbor and will be at both Memory Lane and Monroe. Send me a message if you still need help with this.

I picked up the coolest bike I've seen in a long time. Wasn't looking for it but couldn't pass it up. It's a retired Pittsburgh Police bike and I LOVE IT!!!!!
I've had several of them over the years, I used to restore Mongoose and all the related products, Blue Max, Jag, Roger DeCoster, Moto-1.... That was 20 years ago and I kinda wish I had them all back, I could retire by now.
Sounds like you're almost all set with parts, next comes the fun part, assembly! That's a cool stem, has that cool old school look. Yeah, the original Mongoose Gold stems are ridiculous at this point. They're super cool but really expensive.
For $40 you couldn't pass 'em up.
Do you need bars? I have a set of Schwinn box bars and stem dated 1978, I know it's not exactly right but it's pretty close, only if you're interested.
I'm looking for a rear fender for my 1979 Stingray, it's the red and yellow bike and I think they came with a chrome fender. It doesn't have to be perfect, rider condition would be great. If anyone has one I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks
It's a Predator Cromo, Schwinn only made them for a couple of years and they are a full chromoly frame and the gusset has a full weld around it unlike the regular Predator. It was in the catalogs for 1981 and 1982. The Cromo was my first real BMX bike back in the day and I've built several...
Thanks for verifying, didn’t think it was a high interest bike, not much info out there on it. As for value, it was given to me for free and I’ve put nothing into it but time and a little grease so looking good and riding great is enough.
Really, it’s that new? I believe you and think I understand how the date code works. . Thank you so much, now I know at least something about it. It looks good and rides great, that’s the important thing.
I’m looking for any information about this bike, it seems to be around 1958 but I don’t know for sure. I just finished rebuilding everything and it’s super smooth and comfortable. I’ve not seen a coaster brake hub with a grease fitting but I’m more of a BMX guy so that’s not a surprise. Any...
