Somewhere on here are catalog pictures of replacement wood for CT basket platforms. Pretty sure they were true 1/2", just looking for width and length dimensions for the plywood underneath the small basket. If you have an original example, maybe you could take a quick measurement for me...
Absolutely yes! There should be a Cycle Truck section on the Cabe. It is a very unique bicycle, an industrial tool separating it from normal production bikes. You didn't regularly see them in a Schwinn store as they were ordered. There is an almost "cult following" for these bikes and many...
Looking at the specs, a 1959 CT is listed as having a "1990" frame, where as, a 1964 CT is listed as having a "1990A" frame. Anyone know what is the difference? Thanks
I am looking for 1960-64 Wasp rear fender that measures 3" across. The paint doesn't really matter as long as it is fairly straight without rust holes. I can work it if the damage isn't too bad. Will eventually be painted flamboyant red. 59 and earlier won't work as they are 1/4" wider.
I am currently looking for two Schwinn fenders, a 1960-64 rear Wasp fender that measures 3". A front Cycle Truck 20" flared fender. Also, if you have a few decent fender rollers stashed away, maybe you would consider selling one? Thanks again.....

I am rebuilding a pork chop freewheel rear hub and am asking if there was a service manual for this rebuild? I know the sequence in which the parts go back together but am looking to see if tolerances are called out in detail. Would like to get this correct! Thank you...
I think this may be the tool I need, only problem is they just offer it in only 5 flutes and not 6. I think the Tandy tool is more accurate. https://www.erivet.com/product_detail.cfm?ID=ERIVET_1951287_15195632&itemtype=SPECIAL DIES&view=list&itemNbr=SQ-MAS-0352-33
As I mentioned, I do have the Hanson hand tool to press rivets, I could not find the stock number for that head piece or a picture of it. Do you know where to find it on their site or the stock number? Thank you.
I would like to replace the rivets on this Schwinn seat for my Cycle Truck, but don't know what this particular rivet is called. I have a hanson rivet squeezer and I think these are a type of tubular rivet, but not sure how the star pattern is achieved. Anyone know the proper name of these or...
I was asking your opinion based on your late 70's conversation with the Schwinn VP and what they would have looked like at that time. I own two, one of which I have considered finishing in the similar fashion of the California Cruiser/Spitfire decal and paint scheme...or the P.O. Dept scheme as...
If Schwinn had decided to build CT's again, do you think the fenders would have been painted or chromed? Perhaps fenderless with a newer kick stand system?
BradCon, looks like you are off to a good start. Difficult to find a Schwinn basket, but not impossible. I have a 1965 CT and the original plywood base is true 1/2 inch. Sometimes true 1/2 ply can be reclaimed from the cabinetry of 1950's home remodels. Just trim to dimensions and paint black! I...
Existing CT front fender measured .033 and the 20" balloon fender in question measured .022 using my old Craftsman micrometer with the ball bearing trick. Yes, thinner gauge fender. I invite anyone else to check my findings.
Many times I have been frustrated trying to find the correct Schwinn part to put a bike back together. When I look in the Parts and Accessories catalogs, it will just list a part number with no explanation of why it is different from another similar looking part. It was my thinking that a...
Having worked in a steel fabrication yard and high school machine shop, I can understand what you are describing. That clarifies things for me and makes sense! Thank you. After looking at the ones on ebay, that is why I am here trying to learn about the correct parts and see if anyone has...
Are the Schwinn CT side stays made out of angle iron? Are any available out there for sale? ALSO, what makes the Cycle Truck crank different other than it just has CT molded into it? Is there something special that separates them apart from other cranks?
This thing is fantastic, I don't think I have had as much fun riding a schwinn for the first time since May of 78 when my parents bought me a Spitfire! I appreciate the time and efforts you went to shipping this out to me. I will be riding this today for the 4th of July! Thank you again!
Trying to find/buy a large basket strap that connects the frame with the basket on my cycle truck. If anyone could show a picture of one for the details, I would appreciate it. Not sure what they really look like. Thank you, Mike
If you look at the Wasp and CT found in the 1964 catalog, you will see the Wasp has a white tipped rear fender. In all the pictures I have seen of a 64 CT, it simply has pinstripes. The 64 catalog lists both rear fenders as a 5200A, telling me it is just a part number, not cosmetic.
I have a 54 Phantom as well as the 59 Wasp that I can compare now that you mention it. From what I've seen in pictures of the 60's CT's, you have confirmed that about the rear fender only having the pin stripes. Thanks...
Your picture not only shows a slightly narrowed fender, it also shows a painted tip. This tells me the "A" subset found in 5200A fender listing does not indicate a non-painted tip, but could indicate a narrowed rear fender...
Thank you! So, what you have demonstrated, is a production change in the width of a fender only found on Cycle trucks and Wasps happening as early as August 1961 to the end of CT production 1967. I truly appreciate your time and efforts. This has really narrowed the search for a fender and...
Ok, this is great information! Can you measure the outside to outside width of the rear fender on your 1961 Wasp? Perhaps also measure the frame where the fender is attached? We are now very close to figuring out when the change took place if you can take those measurements. These are the...
I truly appreciate your valuable response. This is what it's all about. From the measurements I took, it almost seems like a 64 CT has an oddball rear fender width. Schwinn had a design department and an engineering department, where is that information? Just trying to get details correct.
I didn't know I was required to give explanations for my questions placed on the cabe to passers-by policing my posts. Yes, I do know a 5200A fender fits a mid-sixties CT. As of yet, no one has been able to give specifics on the dimensions nor what exactly the "A" represents, other than a...
I would like to know what bike this front fender would be correct for. Is there anyone out there that can identify what it is by its shape and paint scheme? Any ideas on years? Also, what makes a 1941 Schwinn fender different when concerning unequipped Autocycles? Thanks for your input! Mike
