"too many zeros" or "misplaced decimal" thread

If I had a dime every time I saw a 1960's light blue women's Columbia bike at a New England flea market/antique shoppe, I could buy a dozen of them.... 😁

Early 63 Stingray May 27 all original bike

If I recall correctly, this book compiled a lot of Schwinn factory records pertaining to build dates (frame stamping dates?). Similar to Jan 1: A40000 - A40357 Jan 2: A40358 .... etc Also here Schwinn Serial Number Chart (to 1969)

    Repo Stingray Question.

I've got a 1967 Stingray in my garage with nice chrome next to a 2012 with rusty chrome! 😛

    Columbia chain guard.

I would say your frame is a late-60's Playbike, it would need a squared chainguard rather than a 1970's swoosh to correctly match the color.

    I thinks its a Columbia...

I was going to say no also, but the fork and the flat rear dropouts got me thinking. I had never seen a crank or flattened cantilever end like that on a Columbia, but found a picture that supports it. The fenders and wheels are not original. The chainguard is Columbia all the way. Looks to be...

You can look up when your bike frame was stamped (that's all I will say about it 🙃) based on old Schwinn factory records here: Schwinn Serial Number Chart

Help sorting out numbers on 68 Apple Krate

You have no problem, yours is a May 1968 Krate (First year?) Schwinn serial numbers relocated to the neck starting in 1970. Pretty sure the early Krates had white seat with colored stripe, reversed later on.

Trivia no google. “ Who is the only performer to play on Woodstock 1969stage with a number one hit single?” Winner wins free chain choice pitch/length

I heard that was quite the scene - more people than Woodstock even. 3 hour sound checks each by the Allmans and the Dead before the festival even started.

Shifter cantilever muscle bike identification help needed

My viewpoint is a Columbia Sport 5 with mods to the fork especially. I had seen that sprocket on Columbia Mach 5 bikes but the frame is different, so started a search there. I have an orange Sport 5 that has that highrise sissybar with pad. Columbia also had a lot of wacky steering wheels...

    Don Juan offer

"Mostly original 1976 Blue Flame Krate" OK dude.... "This bicycle would not officially be a Schwinn bicycle unless it had a bona fide Schwinn security cable and combination lock" 😣 This offer would certainly qualify as a 'Blue Flame Special' as we used to say back in the day!

    Question on Schwinn crank dating

Is there a logical sequence for the "month" ID on the crank surface? Obviously, it is not directly the month of manufacture as I have seen 24 (maybe higher) on some Schwinn cranks (e.g. 12 70 is not December of 1970). Is there a correlation there (1 or 2 = Jan, 3 or 4 = February, etc.)? Thanks...
