Took the Custom Ross Polo Bike out for a spin to test the rebuild. Yeah Yeah Yeah, it’s just a mess around tinker toy. Stripped and painted purple with heavy sparkles. Newly upholstered seat, complete part clean and polish, bearing re-grease/pack.
Waiting on the white parts!
Hand grips & tassels...
Ok sweet thanks GT. and Mrg: by doing so, I've gained knowledge. We've added additional info to the thread for anyone else who is searching stuff and comes across this. Also revived an old thread and got people talking. I'll call it a success! :p
Hello everyone!
Thanks for viewing/helping out.
I grabbed a 3 piece package deal.
Scooter, Tricycle and Bike.
BF Goodrich Schwinn Bike serial dates it to 1952? It’s on the rear leaf G21351
However wouldn’t know where to find numbers on the other 2 if any and or what brand / year they even are...
That's why I was thinking these bikes would be I guess a bit more rare? Its also just odd that I too haven't ever heard of jordan marsh at all let alone a bike line. The most interesting thing is I've somehow in the 3 weeks ive started getting back into bikes, I end up with 2 different jordan...
Yeah in that one it says x28=? But I think deeper into the thread I found it mean Jordan Marsh. Just cant seem to find many other details about the bikes themselves. Only bike pics from them I've found are in 1965 JM catalog. I need the 1964 Marsh pages and the 1966 Marsh pages. Haven't been...
Oh yeah thanks. I forgot to put that part. MO in the serial is Murray. The MO6 means Murray 1966. x28 is the Jordan Marsh store code. Am curious about Jordan Marsh bikes. Im also curious about how Jordan Marsh sold their bike. Did they alter them themselves per special order and seem to have...
This is a 1966 MO6 24x28 Jordan Marsh boys 20” Fleetwing Mercury.
Would anyone know anything else about this bike. I just simply like to learn interesting facts. He said his dad adored this bike and it is fully original and complete. Plan on cleaning it up nice. Not sure what one of these is...
Oh ok. Learn something new every day.
Even a better day when its something about a tool!
Now ill have to look that up and see how it works and what you use it for. lol
Can't wait to see what other tools get posted.
I'm sure I will learn about a lot of tools I never knew existed.
Thanks Pedal...
I also gravitate to hardware smalls at the market.
Never know when you need that old bolt or flathead screw.
Usually find this stuff at the bottom of $3 take the rest tool box’s.
Cheaper then running to the part store for something silly.
Now finding these old flatheads coming in handy messing...
Nice lot! Do You DELIVER? LoL
I’ll be hitting the storage this weekend. I’ll be nabbing some pics there as well.
I agree with pedal44
This is going to be a great thread.
Mostly everyone who loves bikes, also loves tools!
Stripping and cleaning an I think 72 polo bike and a 65 Jordan marsh...
Yeah i thought that as well. Then i realized this from research. The bike is murray built and came from Jordan Marsh Department store.
Jordan Marsh was all about the Customer is Always Right. I believe they special ordered it this way with a seat for a Fleetwing Tigercat or whatever was in 1964...
Just messaged about this one. Hope it's still avail to add to the set.
Maybe ill work on getting a full family kit. Dad, Mom, Little Girl, Little Boy lol
This is the sister/wife bike of the Astro Flite I picked up. Guy picked this from same barn and from same year. They must have bought a boy and girls bike in Christmas 1964-65. Missing tank so far but he may end up having it.
Seems to be a difficult bike to research. Not much info on these out...
I'm here so far. Seems to line up with a Jordan Marsh FleetWing. Chainguard says Explor***. Cant find the 64 winter catalog pages. Wildcat Seat seems to be original factory specific request upgrade. Tank seems recently missing as does the rear light.. GGRrr. wish he had that as well.
Just picked up the 2nd Murray sister bike from same guy from same barn picked. Omg sweet!
I was so excited I didn’t even read the name on the chainguard.
Now it’s an Astro Flite
And unknown for now purple one
Just left the flea market with it
Will be looking for the tank and rear light
Hey thanks for asking. What do you think a bike like this would be worth? There isn't much sales info on this bike. It is all original, even the zephyer flight tires and down to the pristine green felt perfectly in tact around inner rim. Seems the tires have never been all the way off the rims...
kickstand, front fender ornament, rear fender reflector, control knobs and guts to rear luggage rack light. Debating on adding new decals/handgrips but I kind of like the old tattered look
Gheesh, I'm already looking all over locally thinking about another. My wife is like where the hell are you gonna put more bikes. The Astro Flite I picked up is sitting in dining room. I was cleaning it up in the driveway, listening to some old school music and feeling like a teenager again...
Great lot of images Howey, wish I knew sooner. I am just south of Pittsburgh and probably would have came out to the show.
May have even found a couple parts I'm after for my Astro Flite.
Looked like it was a good day for it. Hope you sold a lot of stuff!
Ive nailed down the understanding of the sears serial numbers pretty well.
Do you have an image of the numbers?
P.S. Amazing Bikes!
I like the 61 Mens bike
oops sorry B. the alert said you replied to my message so i thought you was talking about the 63' on the Murray catalog image. LOL just realized you were saying that to the picture of the spaceliner bike that V posted of a 63' Liner and not the 63' Catalog.
Lead to great organization of...
