Almost all original and correct. Except for tank which from a 1953 Monark and tires/tubes not original. Pedals are vintage but not correct for the bike.
The good:
The repainted Tank although a 1953 is the best original tank I’ve ever had, the jewels are in very good condition. The tank is...

I’m surprised this has not sold yet. I’ve seen it on Ebay for a while.
If I wasn’t 1800+ miles away I would be tempted to make an offer and pick up.
I would not feel comfortable trusting a shipper to ship this bike cross country.
Beautiful bike!!!!!
I’ve been into vintage bicycles since 1990 and I personally don’t care what others do with their money and time, they are free to approach the hobby as they see fit.
If someone has a ultra rare part and they can get top dollar for it, why wouldn’t they want to get too soar for it?? Unless your...

Firstly, your post has an air on arrogance, sarcasm, condescension and ignorance.
Who is anyone to criticize those who enjoy fishing, playing video games, golfing, coin collecting, car collecting, antique collecting etc etc etc that they may have more of one such item of interest?
You come...
This is fantastic, thank you for posting. One curious thing is the date..well before December 7, 1941 which initiated USA into WW2. Am I missing something? It appears as though the gubbmint knew we were going to war before Pearl Harbor.
Something some you fellow history enthusiast may enjoy...
Very sad to hear that. I live a couple towns away from where Don was, and I remember the day he messaged me asking me if I was interested in a 48’ Monark.
Dealing with him was an excellent experience. He was a true enthusiast and not greedy at all, and gave me a really fair deal on the Monark...
I rode 100 miles one day (very long day) on a fully loaded 53 Monark Super Deluxe….of course that was many years ago when I was in my mid 30’s and I have to confess I did have it geared down a bit, with a girls front sprocket up front. If I remember it was literally riding from sun up till sun...

I totally agree with you. I think the majority of collectors like us feel the same way. The history associated with the bike, dings, scratches , patina are a part of the historical appeal of the bicycle. It came from a bygone era and that for me is the very cool part.👍🇺🇸
Totally agree. I had a 41 Columbia years ago that I put some rechromed wheels on, and although the wheels were absolutely amazing, they did not come close to matching the look of the other chromed parts…. Way too shiny and too perfect.
Totally agree. There was a “restored” Monark S. Deluxe on Ebay lately but amazingly it had modern aluminum wheels with a Nexus rear hub, & non correct seat. And the asking price was $7200!!!
This is an example why you need to know what you are looking for when buying on Ebay, I have seen many mislabeled and incorrect information on Ebay, usually due to the seller not really knowing exactly what they are selling.
I prefer original every day, with the history associated with patina. Although if I could have a well restored bike that appears NOS, I would love to have a Monark Holiday or a prewar Dayton Twinflex.👍
I have seen a few restored Monarks that were real nice, but little details like fender...
I had a stuck stem on my 65’ Typhoon, applied Kroil every morning and night for 3 weeks, also used heat the best I could. Problem was, the stem was broken off, so I was afraid to put too much heat on head tube or fork and possibly damage any brazing.
Nothing worked.
I actually ended up using...
