Always a great time on Taco Tuesday rides despite the cold this time of year at night.
Great people in a beautiful city PLUS Tacos!
Thanks for letting me experience a vintage Schwinn Dave!
1. Does anyone have photos of the original fittings used on the bike cans? Do you think this would work and look close or correct?
If it is 1/4" diameter flex conduit...

Happy New Year!
I'm looking for a supplier for the flexible conduit and end-fittings that were used on the battery cans.
Using it on a custom build and would like to use similar materials if possible.
Thanks for your help!
Thank you for your insightful response.
I'm looking forward to visiting your website to learn more about these great bikes. I'm very interested in more information regarding serial numbers for specific models as well as marketing information.
Thanks! Learning more every day.
Wish my addiction was less widespread on manufacturers and models. It would be a lot easier to absorb the information. 😉
OK, so these were on Schwinn bikes only (Arnold Schwinn name)? Kingsting..Kingston... your answer went up as I was writing. So not only on Schwinn bikes?
Those are really different looking. We're these an aftermarket manufacturer's item?
I'm assuming there's a slot in front and back that allows it to surround the bottom frame crossbar tube? Are they steel or aluminum? Any chance we could get some dimensions? 1. Overall width (appears to be same...
Hi Everyone,
I am toying with the idea of a tank on my '36 Monark Silver King.
Has anyone ever played with that idea? If so, photos are appreciated along with any details available.
Thanks!
They have 9" with 6" of thread on the new repros. If I need just slightly over 6" in tube length, it should leave me with 3" of threaded tube. I think it will work and am going to gamble on them.
Just found the spec.
It is 15" long from bearing race to axle so its a perfect match to the original forks.
Original head tube is approximately 6" so I believe it'll be fine
Got it on both counts but is a 1" threaded tube correct for the headset on this bike.
I will get fork leg dimensions to see what the difference would be in stance.
Hi,
I have a Silver King (photo attached) that didn't have much of the original parts when purchased and had 26" wheels. I'm looking at changing out the forks since they're not in great shape. I'm keeping them but I'd like to put on a modern set of Monark style springer forks.
I found this 1"...
She's a beauty!
So if they only had 1 model, all of them were equipped with springer forks, head and taillights, fenders and rear rack?
What about seats? I've seen 2 or 3 different models ranging from standard spring seat to streamlined seat with aluminum swish like emblems to a toolbox seat...
I'm looking for serial number matched to years along with the model#'s to components on those models. Seems from the other models that are covered fairly well that there was always a Standard and a Deluxe model.
Thanks for the informative reply. Too bad on limited info for these bikes. I checked again and didn't see hex frame data... darned eyes. ;^)
Where can I find/buy the Polizzi book on the Silver King bikes? I have the Polizzi book on the Shelby bikes.
Hi,
I'm new to the Silver King Owners Family.
I was lucky to find what appears to be a 1936 M-1 model with built-in lock.
I purchased the CABE 1934 to 1948 Silver King book to learn more about this bike and the hex tube frame style that I'm entertaining purchasing.
Unfortunately, unless these...
Yep, I found it on page 39 of John's book.
Are those all your bikes? Nice!
I have the drop stand and fender clip.
Need to look for a tank now. Geesh all this time I was told it was a '38 and was going to build a Speedline version. Guess I need a new '38 frame for that build. I can't tear this...
Hey Everybody,
Rookie looking for clarity. ;^)
I have what I've been told is a '38 Shelby bicycle.
The head badge is a Gamble Stores Eagle (attached photo) and I also have a Traveler fender badge.
I have almost all of the parts to create what is referred to as a 1938 Model 70 (painted...
