Starting this thread for builders to show off your “resto” and “semi-custom” schwinn builds that went to the next level, with colors, chrome, adding extra parts and/or accessories…here’s my resent build.
1979 schwinn spitfire: bmw grey with black metallic painted decals, double drums with a...
I picked this up recently 24” schwinn and the serial # was used 3 times (52, 53, & 57) and no model on the chain guard…it has S2 rims, ND (R) & script (F) hubs, script tear drop grips, big aluminum head badge, AS seat clamp, standard sprocket/cog..and the last thing is schwinn stamped bottom...
Selling a set (F&B) 24” Komet super drop center rims. I took them off a 49’ girls spitfire (J-80) model because they weren’t correct.
The hoops and front hub have no stamps/marks, the rear hub are stamped (see photos)….Idk anything about these brand or what year they are or the correct model...
Just purchased this 24” girls balloon bike..I think the rims and gooseneck are incorrect for this bike, I haven’t checked the serial number yet..and I found a identical badge advertised as “50’s schwinn Spitfire”….open to all suggestions and references to what model and what parts are needed to...
Does anyone know which year and models these brake straps were used?
- B(3 holes), B 1, B 2, B 2(3 holes), B 10.
I have a 79’ spitfire with B 2 rear brake strap, I think my 67’ Hollywood had a B 1? Someone told me the correct strap for a cruiser 5 speed w/drum brake was B 10.
Seeing if anyone has a spare rear atom drum brake plate they wouldn’t mind selling. The one I have was polished aggressively and the stamped “atom” is now gone.
Here’s my wife’s 1967 Hollywood that I redid a “resto” or “custom” on…painted it dusk pearl from a 57’ bel air, seat is a 80’ cruiser and redone with 58’ impala coral vinyl & white leather, pinks embroidery, to look period correct, personalized the model name on chain guard, and has a Nantucket...
I’m looking for a fork for a 1982 20” cruiser.
Basically the crown has to fit on to a 77’
scrambler fork.
All the 26”&24” crowns are too small, I have a crown that semi fits but I think the person I got it from banged it out to make it fit. So when I paint the fork it’s not going to fit anymore...
I’m looking for early 80’s schwinn cruiser handlebars stamped 7836-?-?.
Also looking for a schwinn sprag/kickstand for early 80’s 24” stamped 8336 or 336 or 8308
Here are some pictures to reference
Thanks everyone
I have a 24” frame with a odd size kick stand, it’s around 8”, my other two 24” frames from the 60’s have around 9” stands and the jr 20” frame I have is like 7” and the full size 20” frame I have is like 9” sooo can anyone tell the where the 8” stand came from and is it correct for an early...
I’m looking for “sierra” brown or blue or green glitter schwinn grips and/or breaker leaver covers/grips, preferably chubbys but cushion is ok to. Just checking here before I settle for the slimline grips.
thanks
Can anyone tell me some tips and tricks to disassemble these to type of pedals..I can tell the one from the late 60’s is a “heavy duty” version of the early models that you can pry off..I’m going to chrome plate them so also if you have ideas for whys to secure the rods that would help. Thanks
I’m looking for a 20” 36 spoke S2 rim from a scrambler or cruiser..l lost a bid on and a set is my last report because I have a front rim..I’m going to check in with some old bike shop tomorrow. I’ll even take just solo rim and get a hub.
Will a 81’ fair lady chain guard (19”) fit on a 77’ “full size” Sting-Ray 5 speed frame?
I looked at pictures and the 77’ 5 speeds and they have little extension on the end of the Chainguards to reach. I know the chain guards are different styles and idk the 77” length is supposed to be. Thanks
So I’ve been referencing to everyone’s threads over the years and this is my first time starting one. lets see how it goes.
I recently have been wanting to get my 8yt old son a 20” beach cruiser since I’ve gotten “bit by the bike bug” again but every time I see one I hesitant due to the price...
