Pre-War BSA ''Gold Vase'' with SHAEF

That is a very interesting story, thank you.I live very close to Bushy Park in Teddington where SHAEF headquarters were based. There is nothing left there now except for a small plaque. The only surviving building from the wartime base is the local Boy Scouts hut. There is still a bicycle...

    Sunday's Show and Tell... 4/30/23

US cycles are not that collected this side of the pond but there are a few of us.who like them. I picked up this a couple of days ago. I think you call them "Parade Flags"? What era are they, 50s or 60s? Cheers.

Anyone Recognize this 1890s Rear-Steer Tandem?

I found this catalogue. Unfortunately it's not that clear but the lady front frame is very similar. There are a few on the Online Bicycle Museum but nothing that gives a good match.

    Sunday's Show and Tell ... 12/18/22

Guys, you will be better informed than me. I found this book in a Charity shop, I think you call them Thrift shops. I have a few US cycles, they are not that popular over here, and also collect books about the same. This Schwinn book has a library card holder inside and also the front page is...

The most expensive wheelset I've ever seen- Update- A new set of wheels for an 1860s Boneshaker Bicycle

This is the original paint on my Michaux of 1869 to give you an idea. Also, the style of pedals, they are bronze not brass. That looks like a really good project.

    Bicycle oddities and factory mistakes

I don't think that this was intended as a mistake, but it certainly was. Designed to keep the rider clean it ended up far too heavy and very few were made. There are believed to be only 3 examples left. People always ask where the engine is and probably the best answer is "on the saddle"

I still use a Beugler pin striper and I think they are still made in the US. It's a useful bit of kit.

    Sunday's Show and Tell...10/23/22

One of the guys in our Club is emigrating to Oz and selling all his cycles. This one was left as no one seemed to have any love for it. It's with all of our collection now as we didn't have one. Not the best for riding but an interesting transitional machine.

Pedals wanted for 1899 Columbia shaft drive

That's interesting thank you. We sold a Columbia shaft drive that was from a club members collection and that had engraved pedals. I assumed that they were what had been fitted originally but seeing yours it gives me a better scope. I have quite a lot of early pedals but all 9/16" and not 1/2"...

Pedals wanted for 1899 Columbia shaft drive

Hi, I am looking for some pedals for an 1898 Columbia shaft drive. Unfortunately the ones that are on it are very modern and it is difficult to find 1/2" threaded pedals in the UK. They will need shipping to the UK, obviously. Trying to find the correct, engraved, Columbia ones is pretty much a...
