As a matter of fact that is what I am doing with my 1967 Stingray that I’ve had since I was 10 years old. I was going to restore it to like new. Then I decided to make it look more as if someone had taken good care of it for 50 years.
You are absolutely correct. I’ve done one car like that in my life. A1963 Chevy. The orange peel had to be so on the top deck areas. Man it was crazy. And duplicating the crayon marks on the firewall. Single stage enamel paint. It was a rough experience. I would never do that again.
My Cycle Truck is a 1964. We think it was a Navy courier bike. Dad bought it about 40 years ago at a Navy surplus auction in Norfolk, VA. It was Navy gray and had reflective stickers all over it. I just brought it home to Texas where I live from his estate. He took it apart but never did...
I’ve taken far too long in posting this thank you to Olevince for coming through spectacularly for me on Schwinn Stingray parts. He offered them on a DOND basis and I was the successful buyer. Not only did he send the parts as advertised but also added some really nice extras. These parts will...
There is a product that you can use prior to clear coating. It is called SR-17. A company in Virginia Beach, VA formulated it for neutralizing rust. It makes it inert. Sprayed on properly and you never have to coat the metal with anything. We used it in a 1963 Econoline pickup after we sand down...
If those are Stingray fenders and forks I could use them for a restoration I am doing. I’d appreciate it if you would let me know if they may be available. Thanks!
I am an auctioneer and I’ll have to say that I agree with your rant. It is true that as an auctioneer I make more money on an item the more it sells for as I get a percentage of the final price at the fall of the gavel. But to push the values of so many items is just pure greed. I am a casual...
Thanks 60sstuff. It has been about 50 years so I can’t remember if there were bronze flecks in the paint on my 1967. I was into cars and trucks from 6 years old and I would pay attention to paint colors and shades. I do have one spot on the forks that still has the original paint on it. I’ll...
The paint color has been just one of the things that has been fouling me up on the restoration of my 1967 Deluxe Stingray. If I could impose on your knowledge, do you know which shade and type was used in 1967? And where I can get the paint. Thanks!
I thought maybe that was the case. And you are correct they didn’t come with them. I’m just trying to come up with that option on a cycle truck I am working on to be a more utility bike. Thanks for getting back to me on it.
