Tires for ‘42 Westfield Sports Tourist?

You have a very nice bike @Goldslinger . Mine seems to be very original, and had blacked out pedals. My grips are also a little different, and I have a head badge that was a transfer onto steel (white and red paint). Also, I ended up using the Kenda tires. The bead isn't exactly right, but they...

Cloth Seat Restoration - 1942 Columbia Sports Tourist

I actually found a 1947 sports tourist with the exact same seat. I plan to hang onto the original seat in original condition and restore the 1947 seat (the '47 seat looks identical, and is in similar condition. The '47 is in rough overall and the cool factor of a '47 is much less.

Cloth Seat Restoration - 1942 Columbia Sports Tourist

It has a metal headbadge. It does have a New Departure hub, but I will have to go look to see if there is a reference to "Model D".

Cloth Seat Restoration - 1942 Columbia Sports Tourist

What is a good way to restore this cloth seat? I was thinking about starting with some black shoe polish to cover the white wear spots, but is there a way to re-cover it properly? The bike is all original (except tires) and is a nice example of a war time bike with black out hardware.

Tires for ‘42 Westfield Sports Tourist?

Here are some photos. I am looking for the size of the tires and ideas about restoration. I hate to sand that paint and ruin the decals.

Tires for ‘42 Westfield Sports Tourist?

I need tires for it, but I don’t know what size to get. The tires on it are modern tires from a 10 speed or something. No size on them, they just say made in Korea

Tires for ‘42 Westfield Sports Tourist?

I just picked up a very original 42 sports tourist, blacked out parts and all. I have 2 questions: 1. What size are the tires? 2. Any recommendations to restore the paint without stripping it and starting over. The original decals are there and I hate to mess with them. The paint is “ok”, but...

Truss Rods for G519 - Or something that will work.

Thanks. I had seen those, but I was hoping for something cheaper, and maybe with the lower truss. Your comment made me finally pull the trigger on them.

Truss Rods for G519 - Or something that will work.

I am building a Westfield Columbia G519 WW2 tribute bike, but I have not found a set of Truss rods for it. I saw Bergerwerke has upper and lower truss brackets, but not the rods themselves. Can anyone point me to a set of truss rods (brackets would be good too). I'm willing to buy the whole fork...

Help Identifying Western Flyer (1940 by Huffman?)?

Hello, I'm new to vintage bikes. My long term goal is to get a WWII era military bicycle. In the short term, I picked up this bike last week because it looks like a military Huffman (at least to my newbie eyes). The head badge says "Western Flyer" but the frame looks like some Huffmans that I...
