Answer to a hardware headache 5/16-20 nut?

    Merc I bought at Trexlertown

I'm really happy with my new ride. I had a 1941 Cleveland license plate, so I figured this would be the perfect bike to put it on. I worked some of the kinks out of the rack and chain guard and changed some stuff around. It rides as good as it looks. Yes, I think the Mercury Pacemaker is my...

    Green bicycle gem

It's a glass reflector, they were used on bicycles, motorcycles, car license plates, saddlebags, etc. from about the 30's on. The one you have is an early one and would be worth a fair amount but the chip kills the value. By the way, that weird green colored glass is often referred to as...

    Mercury Pacemaker 1941 Info.

Earlier this summer I saw one with a chrome tank & head shroud with aluminum fenders but that one had a switch for the lights and a button for the horn mounted on the top left side of the tank. Perhaps they made a version with an external light switch which could have been mounted on the handlebars?

    Mercury Pacemaker 1941 Info.

That's what I've heard too, that the early models had aluminum fenders. I wonder if someone took a dummy tank and removed the areas in the tank where the lights go and added lenses. Hi, I'm not sure what you mean by "giant" sprockets. How many teeth do they have? Usually bicycle chains are sold in standard 56" long sections. "61" refers to Diamond chains part number.
