McCauley Cycle Works
For your DOND consideration this fine morning…
The finishing touch to an excellent early hard tire or funky transitional safety.
Truly an excellent example of a late 1880’s - early 1890’s “Referee” bicycle lamp which was re-badged and sold by Joseph Gales & Co as the “Manhattan.”
Gales prided himself apparently on his wide range of high quality jobber offerings but seemingly did not fabricate anything in-house.
The lamp is in excellent condition without cracks or missing hardware.
It retains original red rubber buffers within the “anti vibration” mount, looks like a few have rotted away but for the most part intact and mounts / pivots properly.
Reservoir is intact and even has a handy little match-light surface.
Please feel free to ask any questions you may have -
Shipping will be included in an accepted deal so please take that into account when placing a bid on this scarce accessory.
I know this old light would love to be back at home on a NY sold hard tire safety or the like, let’s make it happen!
