I thought that the 12-tooth would have gone for more than the 11-tooth cog sprocket(?).

IMO it's too much. Even on a heavy bike. All I had was an NOS 12t so I put that on my pig of a '37 tanked Colson. An 11t would have been much better.

I think it's just preference sort of like 30" bars versus 28" inch bars.
