Phrank Vee

Finally riding a big boys bike
Hey Y’all,

I purchased a 13/16 seat post for my 1960 Rollfast. It’s just a bit to small. Should I use shin of some sorts? Or a aluminum soda can? Didn't realize what a pain this seat post was going to be. Appreciate any advice.

I believe some Snyder built bikes had 27/32” seat posts. If so, then the 13/16” would be about 1/32” too small, about 1/64” all around. Not sure if some 1/2” nominal IPS pipes have 27/32” OD.

13/16" = 20.6 mm
27/32" = 21.4 mm
7/8" = 22.2 mm
I know that 20.6/22.2 shims are available. Maybe 20.6/21.4 are also available.
If the 20.6/22.2 is too tight, you can easily cut it down a bit.
It's certainly worthwhile trying a piece of soda can before buying a shim.
