I've bought a few things from him in the past - nice guy, just a bit hopeful with his pricing. (Aren't we all...)
 
I think I read this morning that Daniel Stover, who manufactured these bicycles, invented a very early coaster brake. Can't tell from the photos if this bicycle has one. Might go a little further to justifying the price.
 
Awesome grab. So it's direct-drive? I read somewhere that Stover was the inventor of the coaster brake (or backpedal brake it was called) and thought it might have an early coaster hub.
