Look Ma, No Hands!
Considering selling this HTS. In great original condition. Pin stripes look to be added later. Rideable as is but needs a tire repair or replacement if you’re going to ride much. Groupon seat ;). $5000 shipped or delivery to memory lane. Badged 1889 but I believe it’s an 1895 based on the open fork crown.

'Humber' is simply the name that people used to give to unidentified 1890s bicycles. As an example, it's like someone in the UK finding an unknown make US frame and calling it a Schwinn. The reason is that around 1893 - 1895 many companies copied Humber's frame designs. There were hundreds of different bicycles made in this style in Britain and Europe. With the advent of the internet and more information available about leading British companies such as Humber, it's not so common any more for people to claim their bike is a Humber without proper proof. This bicycle does not appear to have anything to do with Humber. But if the seller believes otherwise, it would be up to him to prove its provenance by providing research material to confirm. Otherwise it is best described as an unknown make bicycle c1893-1896 with an upsloping top tube. That style was superseded by 1896 in Britain (by horizontal top tube bicycles), though some discount companies continued to sell the old style at cheaper prices or export (dump) them abroad. An 'upsloper' is now a sought-after style of bicycle. This is an attractive example; it might be British but is just as likely to be French. If the seat post is original to the bike, it would date it as 1895/1896 as that's when that diameter of saddle clamp was introduced. Good luck with the sale

28" in front and 26" in the rear. Front wheel is larger than the rear. No holes in the rim for valves though. Appears to have been hard tire only.
