1939 JC Higgins? I have had this bike since the ‘90’s. The serial number is MOS-S MOD 502 286 24362 is what the serial numbers look like. Trying to verify year and value.

Not much collectors value in girls older refurbished bicycles; but might be value in few parts, some people like the skirt guards.
Girls Murray tanks are reasonably available should one wish make a beach cruiser out of it. Forks could be straightened.

Does it have a badge? I would expect Elgin rather than JC Higgins if it is really prewar, but I am no expert.

Elgin would be prewar and JC Higgins postwar.

Not a prewar with forward facing drop outs. Is that a 8436 ? I think the first 2 digits in reverse making it 48

Simple, M O S- M is "Murry Ohio Sears - 48"
