I love my prewar 20” juvenile bikes collection. I find them to be more entertaining than adult bikes because kids used to beat the crap out of them. Finding them complete is something special. I have a couple that are dated 1897-1900’s. And possibly the only ones known. But then again, some other juvenile bike collectors don’t post them…
For example here’s an original Crawford girls 20” juvenile bicycle dating 1897 from my collection. So… that being said… there are pre 1920’s bikes out there.

She is a STUNNER! Greg and deserves a thread of her own! I wish more of these little ones were found in this condition.

You are mis-informed; there are heaps of pre-1920's juvenile bicycles. Maybe not this exact model but plenty exist by other firms. I would bet one, or more of the Iver Johnson collectors are aware of some pre-20's ones. And why is that 1920 date so special? A teens era bicycle typically gets priced the same way as a 1920's model.

The early juveniles often to not get posted because most collectors do not care for them, and they are of low value. Typically they are pretty broken-down as they received use by multiple generations. Also they are tricky to restore because of finding matched rims and tires. Again in they end they usually are worth less than the restoration costs.

Number 8 in this batch is much earlier than your Boy Scout; $200 took it home.

The IJ in that thread is post 1920. Not hard to tell if you know anything about Iver Johnson. I don't really consider scooters to be bicycles - and I have no idea how to age them. The R.D.Adams is super cool tho. But, it does show what a deal I'm giving someone if that bike went for $650. I'm giving the frame away with $3000 in parts for $2k. But, it does prove there are more boys pre-1920 bikes out there. That's the first one I've seen. Appreciate you posting it.

That's one beautiful bike. Priceless if you ask me. Where else you gonna find one!! (It's absolutely true in your case).

BTW. Do you happen to have any boys bikes from pre-1920. Not being picky, but that's actually what I stated. I think it's well known that girls bikes are far more likely to survive than boys, for obvious reasons.
