1934 Rollfast 28” wood wheel set to 700x38c wheelset w/ Nexus 3 speed swap

Friend Don Christie hooked me up with this sweet 34 Rollfast with tireless 28” steel clad wooden wheels. I had a 700cc wheelset w/Shimano Nexus 3 speed internal hub laying around so thought the Rollfast would be a good wheel swap candidate. Here is how I got it and mocked up with 700 wheels

The hub had standard teeth so got Ichibike’s 11t skiptooth conversion cog so I can run the original skiptooth crank/chain. Very easy swap! Pop out the circlip, remove old cog, drop in the Ichibike cog, snap in circlip-DONE!

Shortened the shifter cable about 12”. Flipped rather ugly grip shift barrel under the crossbar to be less obtrusive. Added some nice thick Thompson ball end grips and I’m ready to go riding!

Looks good - the modern 700c is a great and cheap option. If you ever opt for some painted rims I can help you out with rims or building them as well.
