I agree Mike--something of an anomaly for several reasons. Promotional model? Collector modified? Who knows but I learned a long time ago not to instantly assume things may not be factory and start 'correcting' it. No doubt a real pod bike regardless. Personally I think the bike has a lot of character as-is and that's how I'm going to leave it except for a mild cleaning and service. V/r Shawn
So I'm on the hunt for a Mercury speedo for my dual pod but am not so sure a Clipper wasn't used as well on these. The dual pod bikes were offered with and without speedometers. For the ones without they inserted a dummy face like this.
The bikes with a speedometer used an AC which is thinner than a similar Stewart Warner type speedo. Here is an original bike with a clipper face.
Here is my restored bike with a Clipper face. The AC speedos have a brass plug on the right side of the case.
Here is the Mercury face AC. I am on the hunt for this speedo or even just a face and needle. I'm interested to hear thoughts on the Clipper vs. Mercury face speedos on the dual pod bikes. Thanks, Shawn
Thanks Chad, now I'm really wondering what I need here? The Merc speedo looks AC to me but if that's the case wouldn't fit the pod. Anyone here have any other thoughts on this? Thanks, Shawn
